I am a single mom of a special needs child, and I had to give him the bad news that his cat had been killed. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to tell him. It hurt me so much to see him so sad and upset. He has been doing very well, and now he just remembers him. I have bi-polar type II and i have my own ups and downs and lately I have been feeling very anxious and I have no idea why. no one in my life can really understand, so I guess thats why I am here to be around people that will understand.

Hi Single Mum, (from another single mum with now grown up, difficult son ie ADHD/Bipolar Spectrum etc only recently diagnosed - mother me, with ADHD/Bipolar II anxiety and a little Obessive Complusive Disorder again only recently diagnosed - we are a bit slow in Australia)

Those who live lives with appear on the surface, have no idea how difficult ordinary living canbe for a mum, who raises a "difficult" child and who themselves is having problems. Not at all easy!

There is one advantage though you have been diagnosed and I hope have a doctor is treating you and you have made him aware how you have been feeling lately.

When I look back there was no family support, we were consently critised etc. Life was not easy. However, we have both got there. Good therapy and correct medications and doseages have made all the difference to our live now. Yipee!

You may know it take some time before you finally hit the correct medications for you.

We both take Seroquel. Now while I don't believe in promoting any particular medication (as we are all different), seroquel with the ADHD stimulants have helped greatly. After two years our dosage has remained the same with the drugs assistance not changing either. So this is good. It is said that seroquel can also assist anxiety. I don't know if there is valid scientific evidence that this is so.

I do hope that life is now settle for you and you child. Anxiety is not pleasant.

Just be aware that another is thinking of you and your child. All the best to you both,

Jennywren
