In the latest case, neighbors said a 7-year-old pulled from a burning house Saturday with her two younger sisters screamed, "Why mommy? Why mommy? Why did you do this to me?" Alysha Green, 29, accused of coaxing her children into a closet and burning them, had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder but stopped taking her medication, according to documents filed by Child Protective Services.

How can this happen? We all know how, if you have bipolar disorder. You start feeling better and stop taking your medication for a number of reasons or excuses. I am guilty of not taking my medications and usually end up in the hospital.

This story scares the hell out of me... It is so real and can happen to any of us! Bipolar Disorder is nothing to take lightly. I believe that society sees mental disorders as no will power people or just lazy, etc...

I've edited and locked this Post, all readers of it must understand that being bipolar does not mean you will harm your children anymore than a "normal" person might, this kinda hype is what keeps people from understanding mental illness. I recommend that you do research on the subject of bipolar and you look up violence among the mentally ill.

I think it's because of the stigma attached to being bipolar. For years my husband and son joked that i was bipolar (before i was diagnosed) and i used to scream at them "I'M NOT CRAZY!!". It's what i thought bipolar people were. and i think too it's becasue mose of us biplars arent just bipolar. we either have PTSD, schitzophrenia, panick attacks, ADD or ADHD or a slew of other dx's. it's easier for the general public to "label" us.
