also congrats Carmen33 for the lengthy sobriety. I am going on one year. and it feels wonderful. I had to lose my family to get sober but I am now on the right road.

Thisblows, I did have to lose my husband and children to get sober and get on the right meds. I am now 10 months sober and seeing my children more than I was when this all began. I just know how hard it was to not be able to see my kids. But that is the only thing that has kept me from going back into using. Knowing I have to stay sober to see my kids makes it easy.

So Maybe it is time for you to make some very hard decisions. YOu do need to protect your children too.

I was a heavy pot smoker for years, but then I learned that the pot was making me more parinoid than anything else and it was also giving me very bad anxiety. This didnt start to happen until I was on Geodon and depakote. when I was on just lexapro this didnt happen to me. But i was a self medicator with weed. To this day if I smoke it then i get parinoid very bad and very bad anxiety, but i am also on depakote and seroquel as well. I never got like that when I wasnt on these meds.

She does get that, as far as I know. But she doesnt do much of anything anymore but sleep. Like I said before though. Shes good at taking care of the kids, makes sure they are feed, and washed etc... but asleep on the couch by 7 everynight, so we may see her awake for a couple of hours if we're lucky. Id have to heck her meds to see what shes on, they just changed again and Im not to sure what they are this time. I think lexapro, seriquel (I know I misspelled it) and something to help her sleep (like she needs it!), ambein (spelling?) comes to mind, but she hardly takes the sleeping one cause shes already asleep! lol.

Im tired of the lying to me about it, and lying about the other things too.

Wow, Seroquel is what I am on and let me tell you , even taking just 50mgs of it will put you to sleep. I am on a higher dose and have problems if i dont get about 9 hours of sleep with it. Seroquel helps to make you fall asleep although the dreams are pretty vivid.

Im not quite positive on the drugs, I maybe wrong about the seriquel, that may be the one shes taking to help her sleep (or not as the case maybe).

my brother smoked pot and drank for self medication. he just went from bad to worst. he thought he was in control and felt better momentarily but also had a worse crash or ended up in trouble w/law enforcement because it gave him boldness and a false sense of being in control and felling better. i have also tried it, and it made me feel so out of it. will never try again.

Im not a big fan of it. The way I see it, the PDoc has gone through a bunch of years or school to learn how to work on these problems. I on the other hand, have not, so he's the expert. Same with my wife.

I tried the pot for about six months and found that it worked at first. But like a lot of the medications that I have tried, it stopped being effective after a while. My life was miserable and I felt that I could not function without the pot. I was so sick of taking pills that I was willing to try anything and this attempt with pot ending up putting me in the hospital because my condition got so bad. Again, everyone reacts differently so I would definately keep a mood journal and keep track of how much I smoked if I were you. At the end, I woke up with pot and went to bed with pot. That was all that was on my mind all through the day and I wasn't really functioning anyway. Try looking up the clinical effects of pot online and see what info you get. Good luck.

Mark

I just have a question. How can chemically produced medications be less harmful than natural substances. Every one of our psych drugs are artifically produced. Marijuana is a product of nature. Someone please post the site where it says that a medical study has found that psych drugs are more beneficial to the bipolar than an equally studied group using only marijuana. Don't jump too hard on me guys. I am a grandma & it's not legal here in Illinois anyway. lol But, I would rather have facts than speculation.
