I'm an Advocate

I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). I still have to take medication for it though I have confronted a lot of my fears which has made it easier for me to cope. I'll probably be on meds the rest of my life, it's been 8 years and still if I go off the benzo my GAD kicks into overdrive. With meds it's a lot easier to deal with. I have 2 bosses that can be pretty demanding, one confrontational. I used to give in and be scared of them, now I call them on their bull and they don't act that way toward me anymore. It was really frightening , and I was a nervous wreck when I confronted them but it paid off.

Just like waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never happens. Even after therapy I still get those feelings esp. if I'm in a bad place. For me its more like paranoia and I take an anti-psychotic and Valium to control it.

I always tell my self in a confrontation...."whats he going to do..beat me up?" Thats not going to happen. He puts his pants on the same way I do. I also take klonopin every day for anxiety and it helps.
You are not drunk unless you have to hang on while lying on the floor.

Oh I hear you, I used to do the same thing still do from time to time. I was always worried someone would yell at me because I had been yelled at most of my life by my mother who did her best, but was very critical. I just tell myself that most people in life don't yell they just don't.

I am like that because my mom was super critical and a perfectionist so as a child I heard a ton of yelling. I try my best and try to remember people aren't always angry with you, sometimes they are just busy or dealing with their own problems. Remember that.

Wow, BPD sounds like me too. I thought the ways I think were just the BPII... I'll have to talk to my doctor about this one during my next session.
