MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles. I haven't ever had mania in the morning and depression by that night, and I'm grateful. It sounds horrible. I hope you feel better soon!
I have had a few diagnoses, but let's just say BPII resonates. Hypomania is all in retrospect though (my 20's were nuts and untreated, my 30's have been mellow), so maybe NOS better suits me. I also have recurrent panic disorder.

40mg Celexa (since June 2011)
.5 mg Xanax at night/1mg PRN (since December 2010)
100mg Trazadone for Insomnia (trying to wean off the nightly Xanax with Trazadone to help me sleep, not working out so well)
Labrador Hugs several times a day, every day

I've used and plateaued on or at least tried every SSRI/SNRI/Anxiolytic out there. At least, if feels that way! Also Neurontin and Lamictal.

Previous discussions I participated in:
Crazy urge to drink
a glass of wine???

Sounds like you are cycling and that isn't good. I think that you should probably resist in your shopping sprees. They can get you into debt. I hope this ends soon for you. Call your doctor and let him know that something isn't working medication wise. You are so up and down. It's got to be frustrating for you. Keep hanging and it will hopefully get better since it went away last year. Talk to your doc though.

Have you noticed if any of your moods are somewhat situational? I mean, what are you doing in the early part of the day as opposed to later when your mood crashes? Or what time of day do you take each of your meds? Do they have any immediate effect on you? I only ask because I have often started out my day in a really great mood and gotten through most of the day feeling on top of the world and pretty much like hypomania, then by nighttime, I crash real hard. However, these times are most often parallel to what is going on or where I am as the day goes on and what is happening between me and my husband. Being at work can especially put me in an exceptional mood where I am laughing and joking and smiling and generally feeling off the wall. Then, by the time I get home and realize my husband is not coming home or for no reason at all, my mood plummets, so then I take any meds that are sedating and I get to bed as quickly as possible.

Anyway, if there are any situational causes you can think of, then you can try to make some small changes. Often enough my mood swings do not seem to be changed by where I am or anything other than crappy brain chemicals, so maybe meds are your answer.

I was having trouble being hypomanic during the day and then in the evening I would crash. I hated it but it finally stopped on its own. My Pdoc thought the amount of coffee I drank was causing it.
You are not drunk unless you have to hang on while lying on the floor.

I know this not for everyone, but what if you were to exercise routinely upon awakening? I used to have to do PT in the Army at 0530 and that sucked, but it did make me feel level whereas on the weekends I felt lazy and unproductive.

Off topic here a bit, but something my pdoc said to me 3 weeks ago when I was in depression. He is a really weird, unconventional guy. Anyway he told me that"the medicine man can only do so much" and went on to say " you need to get real f*#king mad and do something about it" his point was that I had to pitch in and put forth effort if I was to get control. I thought about the 15 min lecture of "poor pity you" and am doing two things; I stopped eating candy which is really hard to do, and exercise. I must admit, it has made me feel better. When I don't feel like getting out of bed I think that "it" is not in control, I am.

I hope you can get control back in your life, it's worth fighting for.

I have extreme anxiety/dissocation in the early morning hours (some days) and never thought it could be related to being bipolar. It mostly happens when I'm getting ready for work or going to clinicals for nursing school.
