MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." Okay here is a situation that is problematic. Now that I don't go out into the workforce and have to deal with people, now that I have medicaid so I get medical care and transportation to those appointments plus a small amount of money per month. I don't have to drive thank goodness (was dozing off at the wheel).

Any way now that I have all of that, I am not rapid cycling any more.I think it was all the stress doing that to me. The only problem I am still having is exhaustion and fatigue. At least twice a week I need a full night's sleep plus a 3 to 5 hour nap.

So the problem is that I am doing better, so will people think that I should get a job? I am just wondering if I will be right back to where I was having to deal with all the challenges that come with working. The stress, the pressure, the nagging the not enough money to afford my medical care. I know some will misinterpret this as I am just lazy, but I am not. My biggest problem for the past 3 or 4 years has been increasing fatigue.

I do try to be fruitful when I have the energy and do some research on the web and and learn some things about making skin care products to see if I can sell them. I did get one order so far. But making a living selling on the web requires a great deal of work. I only have so much energy to devote plus I get easily confused and some other brain problems.Sick

My main leadership role is to listen, encourage, and keep the peace....It isn't to give medical or legal advice...Please note...I am not a Doctor...nor an expert...I am here for the same reason all of you are...to receive and give encouragement.

I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself. It's like if you have a cold and you take some meds and stay home a couple days--you will feel better at home but wiped out at work--doesn't mean you are faking it at home! The whole idea is to get you feeling better, stronger, stable, and much more resilient to be able to go back to work when you are ready. You do not sound ready as you are still so tired and that can be a form of illness too--not laziness. Try to take advantage of this time to restore your body and mind and try not to imagine what others are saying right now. You know you need this care, you do not need to prove it to the world. As well, most people don't even know how much we are dealing with when we do go to work...

Thanks, problem is my major symptoms could be a result of so many illnesses even things like allergies (really called sensitivities at this level) or sleep apnea. Already been tested for thyroid problems and low iron levels.

Sounds as if the worry and stress was making you cycle a lot. Now that you don't have to worry so much, you are feeling better. You need to keep getting better. I don't think you are faking anything. Explain how you are feeling with your fatigue and everything. I don't think you are lazy, you are more stable for once and you feel guilty. Well, you shouldn't. You are doing better and that is what we all want. You do what you have to do to stay this way. If you go to work, it will all come crashing down again I think because you won't have the medical help with transportation. I think you will be right back where you were. Take this time to get better. People don't know what we go through. They can't eve fathom it. Keep doing what you are doing.

It does seem if it hasn't happened to you or a loved one then you don't understand. The reason why I am trying to build a web business is that it will allow me to work when I can and I can get help with the work from my boyfriend and some help from my daughter. Plus if I make enough money I won't need anything from the government and that's usually really most people's issues.

It's nice to know though that other's of us feel misunderstood. I have felt that way all of my life.

You are just starting to feel better, give it some more time and don't worry about what other people think. I was out of work for 3 1/2 months, my boss seen me out at the home store one time and another time somewhere else. My car is a one of a kind so its not so easy to miss. anyway I did wonder what the thought and just told myself who cares what he thinks, I know whats going on and what I'm striving for, why bother worrying.

Take care of you first don't push yourself too hard, I did and ended out of work longer than I had planned. Its only been a month and a half since I got back and I'm still readjusting,

These things take time and we need to be patient with ourselves and take the time to become stable again. Try not to put anymore pressure on yourself than you already have.

peace & hugs
Rick
