This is my first time reaching out to any sort of support circle and am hoping to find solidarity, shared experiences, and conceivably some well-seasoned advice. My medication was recently lost in the mail which put me off of it for almost two weeks. I was taking 1500mg of Depakote. After going through the hell of being without it when it did come it was no longer effective and instead sent me in to violent manic episodes like clockwork. My doctor told me to stop taking it and prescribed 600mg of neurontin. I was surprised and concerned by this response. I have been taking the neurontin along with Omega3s and B12. The relentless suicidal thoughts, disorientation, and general disconnect are too much to handle. Anyone have experience with neurontin? Thank you. Look forward to growing in the community. Namaste

I'm sorry I don't have any experience with this medication but I still want to welcome you to this site and tell you there is a lot of support here. It seems that some days are more active than others so give us time to read your post and respond. I have no doubt you'll get more responses that will be helpful.

I'm glad you found us and I hope you stick around.

Sue

Welcome to the group! This is a great group to be apart of. I have not taken neurontin before, but I have read several posts in the past in which it works for others. What other medications are you on?

Hi, it sounds like your medication isn't really working for you since things are getting too hard to handle. Be sure to call your psychiatrist and let him know. You shouldn't be suffering this way while on medication. I take an anti-psychotic, antidepressant, and mood stabilizer to control my bipolar symptoms. It sounds like maybe you need more than you are on. I'm not familiar with that medication that you are taking. I've heard it mentioned a few times though. I'd get with your psychiatrist and do some medication changes. You need something that will work for you. It can take some time to find the right medication combination, but you will as long as your doctor works with you and knows everything. Communication is very important. I hope you get this figured out soon and start to feel better. Joining a support group was a good idea and this one is the best one I've been to. Everyone is caring and understanding here. We don't judge and we support each other as a team. I hope you like it here. Welcome to the group!!

Hi sundance. So sorry to hear that you are having so much pain. I agree with Joy, it does sound like your meds are not really working for you. I didnt get any relief from neurontin at all. Communication with your doc is essential, and there are so many drugs out there. Hope you find something that gives you relief soon.
Zyprexa 2.5 mg
Lithium 450 mg
Klonopin 0.125 mg
Lunesta 3 mg

Thank you all for the good vibes and replies. Just got a new medication regiment. Seroquel and Lamictal. The Seroquel is just 150mg for now and the Lamictal is a prgressive intake starting with 25, increasing every two weeks. I'll couple that with Omega3s and B-12 and see how it goes. Was told that the lamictal wont do much of anything for me until I get through the first month. Any suggestions on braving through 4 weeks of medication trials. I've certainly done it before, but with disastrous results,,,ie little technique. Thanks again, for all the support. Feels wonderful to be welcomed. Peace and Light.

I took neurontin and it did nothing for my moods. However I am on Lamictal and that worked.

I think I'm almost in the same boat as you waiting for the Lamictal. I'm taking 100mg's along with 5 mg's of Abilify. I have a friend on that same cocktail, only she didn't feel any results until she had an antidepressant added on. Maybe that would help you? So sorry for everything you've been through, hope you feel better soon!
