Hi there. I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 eighteen months ago. I am 43 and was misdiagnosed for years. Over the last year and a half have tried every mood stabilizer out there without success. Currently in the mixed state of hypomania and severe depression. Honestly dont know how much more I can take. Never felt so helpless.

Welcome, is626.

I'm sorry that you are having such a tough time. Mixed states are the worst. Sad

I can relate to being misdiagnosed. I didn't get diagnosed with BP disorder until last January. I was 46 years old.

I don't know what to tell you except to hang in there. All of our mood episodes pass... eventually. This one will, too. You just have to wait it out. Hopefully you can find a med that works better for you. Are you currently seeing a psychiatrist?

My opinions are just opinions, and should be taken as such. I am not an expert on medicines or BP disorder.

Thanks for your kind words catbaloo. I am seeing a psychiatrist who I really trust, and we have tried everything. I am trying to hang in there with every fiber of my being. I have a beautiful family, and a great job. So much to be thankful for. Wish I would wake up from this nightmare. Thanks again for your kind words. This is the first bipolar support group I have joined, and can tell there are some great people here.

Hi, you came to the right support group for support. Everyone is great here and it's like family. I'm sorry you are in a mixed state and nothing seems to be working for you. There is something that will work for you though. Don't give up hope. It's good that you really trust your psychiatrist. That's important. I hope you like it here. We love having new people to share with. Welcome to the group!!

Keep in mind you have been through this before and it does go away. Hopefully you will eventually find the right med cocktail that works fro you.

Thanks Bangbang. Has anyone had any luck with trileptal. My doc put me on it a couple of days ago as we have tried everything else. Its not the first or second drug of choice, but I am hopeful it will have some positive effect.

Welcome. I have had the same problem finding drugs that are affective. I recently thought adding lithium back again would do the trick. It helped for a few weeks and now I'm back into a depression. I hope you and your doctor can find something that works for you. You just have to keep on trying as hard as that sometimes is. I keep thinking that they will find a new "miracle" drug in the near future. Doesn't hurt to dream...

Hugs,

Susan

Thanks redphoenix. I also hope that they find that "miracle" drug. In the meantime we have to be patient and strong enough to cope with this disease. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I tried trileptal and it didn't seem to work for me, so I switched to lamictal. It might work for you. We are glad you're here and we have a wonderful group her that provides support for each other. Welcome aboard!
