I saw an endocrinologist this week. I wanted to make sure that it was OK for me to continue to take lithium, as it can cause hypothyroidism. And I just found out I have that problem. I take 25mcg synthetic thyroid every day. The endo found what felt like a 1cm nodule on my thyroid, so he's doing an ultra sound in a week or so to make sure. Also, he ordered a bunch of tests. It'll be interesing to see what develops... My pdoc didn't want to change anything w/o my first seeing an endo.

I have a feeling I'll go back onto Lamictal. Which would be good since I lost 30 lbs on it over 2 years. (Which I gained back when I stopped and started lithium. I never gained weight on lithium before, I just gained back what I lost on Lamictal.)

Does anyone else have thyroid problems. Which mood stabilizer do you use?

Bipolar II
Lamictal - 150mg
Lithium - 300mg
Ativan as needed

pdoc - pill doc, psychiatrist
tdoc - talk doc, psychologist
