MDJunction to me

Dit"I've been a grateful member here for over 4 yrs this place has changed my life of course for the better, coming to the groups has enabled me to no longer feel so alone. As a group leader for the Bipolar Support group I can relate to others and am expressing my experience strength and hope and this is very rewarding, I've also made many supportive friends here whom I talk to some daily. I used to have a lot of 'lows' since becoming member here at MdJunction I no longer have these lows." (Dit)

I can't decide what to do. I'm not being allowed to drive per my pdoc. This really sucks. The only way I would get to drive would be to leave my husband, and then he could have my license revoked. I really need to weigh things out. My marriage is good except for the driving. But I can't deal with not having any independence!I basically have to wait on him to do anything! It sucks and I hate it!!! So, I took up smoking, just because. But if hubby knew that , the would take the cigs away.I just wonder if there is a way to have some independence in a healthy way? Any suggestions?Angry

I worked as a RN, since 1993, I do not practice at present and my opinions are exactly that - opinions. Do not take any advice that I may offer as medical treatment. I will always defer treatments, etc to your MD, Pdoc, and/or pharmacist. What I share with you are my personal experiences, and basic knowledge that I learned as a nurse.
I have Diabetes, Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features and mixed, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, and Chronic Low Back Pain with bulging discs in back and neck, Asthma, Hypothyroidism, Arthritis in lumbar and sacral areas, lumbar disc displacement, Degeneration of lumbar intervertebral discs, Lumbosacral radiculitis, DJD

How close to things are you in your town? The reason I ask is that I have a scooter... if you get a 50cc scooter.. you can go on any street that's under 35 mph...while I still drive my car great distances.. I use the scooter to go anywhere with in 5 miles or so... I've taken it to the grocery store... wallgreens... up for lunch or dinner somewhere... I also take it to border's bookstore, for an afternoon of reading and coffee. I've taken it to go to the movie theatre... or to the bank to pay bills... I've even ridden it to work. they are relatively cheap.. (my husband got me mine for about $500.00, and it gets 100 mpg!)

I don't know if your driving restriction would count towards a scooter... but, I would at least see if your pdoc thought you could handle that.. they are REALLY fun to ride around on... I love mine.

I saw an angel in the marble, and carved until I set her free...

If I lived downtown I would take the bus, but the bus service does have a van to go to places without a stop.

It isn't healthy to be home all the time, talk about your situation with those around you there may be something no one has thought of yet.

Hope you get out soon

Is there any way you could at least take a taxi so you can get out a bit? I can't imagine being stuck at home, I feel for you.
