MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

I am currently on lamictal and seroquel. from what i have been reading seroquel may be preventing me to loose weight. weight loss has been shown with a cocktail of topomax and lamicatal. anyone take this combo? has it resulted in weight loss? between my thyroid going hypo and the meds, i have gained 60 pounds has taken me over a year to loose 20 but that is with very low calories and 2-3 hours a day at the gym with weights and cardio. getting desperate turn 50 in june, I have cut my lamictal from 200mg to 100 mg and need to speak with padoc when i go back. feel much better , maybe can replace with topomax? all opinions welcome

John,

Haven't tried that combo, but I've read that Seroquel is one that packs the pounds on, as are many anti-d's/anti-psychotics. I am on Lamictal but using Savella as anti-d bc it's supposed to help fibromyalgia which I also deal with.

Hope someone here can help you out.....

I'm on Topamax and Lamictal. It works for some, but I'm still gaining weight. Give it a try, it could work for you!

I'm only on the Lamictal from your list and it works well and no weight gain I was on Seroquel and was hungry all the time, same with Zyprexa. I packed on 20lbs in about 6 months. I'm pretty much off the Zyprexa and lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks. Smile
peace & hugs

Seroquel causes a lot of weight gain, lamictal is neutral and does not affect weight, topomax made me feel so sick all of the time that I couldn't eat or think.

Seroquel definitely puts on the pounds. Topomax made me feel cloudy and confused, so I got off both. Topomax did help me control the weight, though, because it changes your taste and you don't feel like eating on it. I switched to Geodon which is more weight neutral like Lamictal, and I've actually lost weight on it.
