I'm on the generic lamotrigine, and I've lost weight on it. I think my acne has actually improved. Side effects vary so much though.

No, I haven't had any hair loss, weight gain, or acne from taking brand name Lamictal.

(However, I have begun to loose more hair now that I am 53 yrs old!!!! --- Sorry, I couldn't resist that!!!!)

I had massive amount of hair loss when I first started lamictal... but, not anymore... the hair loss started in august, and stopped at the beginning of november... in all honesty, I don't know if the lamictal caused it.. I was under EXTREME stress in June and july, and I almost think that the hair loss had more to do with that.. ( a delayed effect) than the lamictal.. the good news.. is my hair is growing back.. quickly..

also, NO weight gain.. and no acne...

I saw an angel in the marble, and carved until I set her free...

Lovebug,

I have fibro so I loose more hair than most people. Lucky for me my hair grows super quickly also. I haven't had weight gain or acne, but everyone reacts differently to meds. It may very well be related to the lamictal. If the side effects are bothersome, I would ask my pdoc for another med bc there's loads to choose from. Let us know how you make out.

I have had hair loss, but it is also caused by stress. I have heard it could be from the Celexa but it could be the lamictal. I rather be on medication and get a nice wig. I think for me my goal is to be as mentally healthy as I can be and I need to be willing to give up anything that stands in my way. We shouldn't have to give up our hair and gain weight, we really don't need more to deal with.
