So I am finally back after 2 months fighting with myself trying to figure out what exactly I want for myself and where exactly I am going. I still haven't quite figured that out but I am trying. I have been off all medications for over a month and my mind is running my life once again. My brain is so caught up in everything that I can't seem to function. I thought that this time going off medication I could control myself but that doesn't seem to be the case. I am still trying to weight out in my mind whether or not to become a walking zombie again with pills or if I want to keep going unmedicated and risk it all. I have never had much of a choice in this matter but for once I want to try figuring it out for myself. Smile

I'm sorry you're struggling without your medications. Have you talked to your psychiatrist about your struggles? What medications were you on before deciding to stop them?

I stopped taking meds because I was on the highest dose of seroquel xr and it wasn't working anymore and when they changed it to Cymbalta I had a lot more problems with outbursting anger and my muscle twitched all the time. I couldn't take anymore. So before I was really even two weeks into the cymbalta I called the doctor and said enough. I have been on and off meds for over 12 years. I am tired of not being in control.

hey djwhitener,

you have many more years experience of bp than me but in my opinion you shouldn't have to settle for either being unstable off meds or being zombified on them. there's surely some balance you can find which gives you stability, or a significant degree of it, without the sedation.

best wishes in your search,

ben

You shouldn't be a zombie while being medicated. If that was the case, then you were probably over medicated or on the wrong ones. Give medications a chance again. It could have been your doctor too. Be sure to communicate fully with your doctor so you can get the proper treatment. I am stable and I am not a zombie. I feel level and normal. No major ups and downs. You could feel this way too with the RIGHT medications. Medications are the only way you are going to be able to stabilize. You can try going medication free, but you are going to have some major problems in life and I think you know this from experience. It's not easy having bipolar and trying to control these ups and downs. I hope you give medications a chance.
