Will meds make me feel normal again, no sucidal thoughts and no maina. Just normal like everyone else. My question is does anyone here feel 100% normal. Or do you all suffer day by day like myself.

I think the whole point of meds is to keep these things in check; you know there isn't a cure. I'm not sure what "normal" is so I guess thats up to you.

I was suffering daily but that seems to have backed off quite a bit. Now I have bad days, but not everyday is bad.

If you don't think your meds are working, please contact your pdoc.

I certaintly don't feel 100% normal. I don't know what normal is. I don't think I have even met a person BP or not who is quote unquote normal. But if you're having suicidal thoughts and/or mania, get into see the p-doc right away. If the doc can't get you in, in time, the hospital is another crucial option. In the meantime, make sure a loved one is close by if you're feeling unsafe. I don't know if you read my posts, but I had recently thought of doing away with myself b/c too much stressful stuff was going on (long story), but for once, my mom took me seriously and made sure that I was ok. She was very scared that I'd actually go through with it this time and almost didn't go out of town to my cousins funeral (I had to stay behind to take care of the animals). I was crying uncontrollably and my anger got really bad. I thought about going to the hospital just to get something to calm me down, but thankfully, I got through that recent intense period.

And I'm riding the wave with a recent med change, so needless to say, a lot of stressors triggered an episode this week (other crap to). Let us know how you are doing and I hope things get better for you.

Silly I think therefore I am. (Don't know where that came from.) The right meds are key and you will get there eventually. We all have ups and downs and i do have times when BP is not at the forefront of my thinking, for me that is my normal time. Currently it seems a very long time since then. It is a work in progress.

I have no clue what is normal other than what is for me and I have a large amount of time just keeping me on the mark. Drugs are one way to cope and talk therapy is another and making sure you make your feelings known to all who you are seeing, because if you don't you are setting your self for a fall.

Some days are one day at a time and sometimes it is 5 minutes and you have to start somewhere.

I have been bipolar since my teens - diagnosed almost a decade ago. In 2006 I took myself to the Mental Ward to change my meds which weren't working - received a miraculous "cocktail" of meds which, in addition to therapy, suport, and having God and friends in my life, have had me feeling as normal as I believe people ever get. I haven't had a crying/screaming episode in years. I take my meds religiously and I removed most of the negative people from my life. It just takes time and finding the right treatment - and sticking to it. Hang in there, it gets better - Jeni Cheerful

the meds will definitely help stabilize your moods but just keep in mind it usually takes awhile to get the right med combo down. you just have to stick with it, but they usually work in some form or fashion. they arent miracle drugs that make all your bp symptoms go away because you still have triggers that you will have to learn to recognize and develop coping mechanisms for. good luck and keep us informed about how you are doing.

I'm an Advocate

Meds alone definately wont solve anything it takes a huge amount of effort on your own part to best the symptoms of the disorder. Everyday is a struggle...
I suffer from Rapid Progressive MS, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Epilepsy, Migraines, Neuropathy, IBS, Narcolepsy, Arrythmia, Arthritis and too much more complete list on profile.

I'm not currently active due to many personal and medical issues. I will not be participating in MDJ for awhile, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone. I hope everyone is well and I appreciate all of the thoughts, kind words and messages. I have tried to respond as much as possible and apologize if I have not gotten back to everyone.
