That's great that you two will be seeing your therapist. She/he can get to the bottom of you and your wife's problems and I hope that she deals well with it. Good job!! Stay strong. Hugs

I think the counselling is a wonderful decision and by going to a neutral person who can see the situation clearly I think it will give both of you some insight and positive advice on what needs to happen to improve the quality of your marriage. Please keep us posted and let us know how it goes!! We're here for you!

Went to my first day of intensive out patient therapy today. It was insightful and gut wrenching. I am afraid of the time commitment. I have to go 3 days a week from 1-4, and 6 aa meetings per week. THis with 2 small boys a wife, mortgage etc. The time away from work is going to impact our bottomline and I'm scared we will go belly up with out my full income.
What worries you masters you
Don't let yesterday take up too much of today!

I can see why you would be afraid. This is a lot of stuff you are dealing with. If you think it will benefit you though, it's going to be worth it. I think your wife and children will benefit from it in the long run. Stay strong. Hugs

I can also see why you are torn with the time commitment. However; in the long run this is going to ultimately improve your quality of life and your marriage. I think that if your spouse is serious about wanting you to have counselling and get better she will support you 100%; even if it means finding a way to provide the supplemental income you will miss temporarily by going to the sessions. Either that or downsizing something. I never heard anyone say they wish they'd worked more...it's always "I wish I spent more quality time with my family/kids". I think you are on the right track and I commend you for your efforts!!Smile

Jonathan, I can understand that you are worried about your finances, which is justified. But I agree with others here that this is a good thing and your health is priority. You and your wife will find a way to get through this. You need this therapy right now. Focus on how you're gonna get better and how much you will improve from the therapy. Try not to worry and focus on getting better right now. Smile
