I have been noticing over the past few weeks feelingsof ants and spiders and whatever crawling on me.

I started Lamictal 25mg about 4 weeks ago and about a week ago had it increased to 50mg.

I think it started about 3 weeks ago with the last week getting worst.

It is like bugs mainly crawling in my hair .mostly the front of the head. then on my checks sometimes, sometimes it is sooo bad it happens every minutes.

Also it will get bad where they feel like a bug is up my sleeve, on my colar bones, on my ribs and back.

We have ants bad in this part, and we get them in the house if you have dropped food. and once in a blue moon you may have an ant on you. but in the last few weeks maybe found one maybe two ants on me. Nver ever in my hair.

And the itch is mostly in the hair, second place the face, third and forth, colar bones and ribs and up a sleeve on the arm, last but not least an itch on the legs.

Now this feeling is so real I have stopped myslef from itching and wait to see if it really feels like it is moving across my face. I wait, yup there is goes moving on my check *smack* *itch itch* nothing.

Now something I found out this year, if you squish an ant they STINK, kinda a potent smell of grass, and chemical, I guess the scent trail they leave. so then I smell my hand, nothing, I know the few times I have found one crawlig on me, you can smeell it on your ahnds and I go wash up because well, I just squashed a bug, but this is sooooo real feeling and NO bugs, now some ,have felt as big as a sipder, and nothing is there!

I called my pdoc frioday and left a message about this, of course she didnt call back.

I started lookig it up on the internet, when you look up ITCH and lamictal, you find "rash, rash rash" we all know about the rash and this isnt it.

So I do a search for, 'bugs crawling itch and lamitcal'

AHA found a few sites, mainly forum stuff where someone else had the problem

Cool

well in response to all those, mostly people told them to call the doc! and get off it, one site someone said that started and a wekk later they got sick then the rash, one site just suggested it's a reaction from the drug and other drugs like it, that comes and goes with taking an antiphysocotic (sorry about the spelling)

but then the bad part, I pull out the medication sheet I got from the doc, I read

Side effects: these happen to lots of people and guess what they are not that bad and your doctor feels the benifits out way these side effects.

then you get this

Uncommon but serious side effects: call your doc... lists off these side effects...

then unusall and serious side effects: call your doc right aways... then lists these side effects....

then rare and serious side effects: call doc emidentally... thenlist these off

and last but not least

Very serious allergic reations: notify your doc emmidantly and call this number (list some perscription or medical emergency number) list of first and foremost, we all know about this the "rash", second Fever, third "ITCH" and forth well I forgot... but there is was "ITCH" since it wasn't list right before or after "rash" I thought, could this be my "ITCH"

why ahsn't that "BIT$@" called me back

anyhow maybe it's not taht bad

ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS ????????????????

I haven't had any problems. Maybe your body reacts to Lamictal differently than mine does.

just decided to dig a little deeper on the internet, and found what this itch is called is pruritus, which is a allergic reaction and even less common then the "rash" 3% get pruritus and roughly 6% get the 'rash' even though the 'rash' doesn always mean SJS, it could lead to it, and come to find out there is a rarer rash called TEN (toxic epidermal necrolysis )with lamictal, which is more fatal, didn't know that, but I guess cause it's even rarer. it's where your top layer of skin (the epidermis) detaches from the lower layers of the skin (the dermis) all over the body. Starts with a fever like SJS then when the rash or well redness begings your top layer of skin can be pulled away from the bottom layer withen HOURS.

and searching deeper I found this on a site about Lamotrigine.

patients receiving LTG should be observed for the development of allergic reactions, including pruritus and rash, which can progress to potentially life-threatening Stevens- Johnson syndrome.

So I am really starting to think my doc is a total BIT#@ for not calling me back, in a few hours when I can I am gonna call that medical number on my lamictal info sheet

Amber, sounds very serious. I can't believe the doctor didn't call you back - what's wrong with her. Let us know how your doing.

Does your doctor have an office staff? I had a problem with my doc's staff, causing me to get off my medication and crash. When I finally got in, he told me he had fired somebody because of the problems. Keeping calling your doctor. Maybe you will get someone else who will make sure you are taken care of.

Amber, if you can't get her to call you back in a couple of hours, can you get to her office? raise hell till you see her, it's easier to put off talking with you over the phone and not so easy when you are standing in the lobby..
