tomopax was for a couple of things. cycling highs first, and in the process it counterbalanced the weight I was socking on from the seroquel. The cool thing is I haven't had more than 1 or 2 migraines a year since- and usually I can abort them with really high doses of motrin. I take 175 mg bid

I've been taking Topamax for migraines since last year and have noticed a marked increase in my severe short term memory loss. As for how well it addresses my migraines, that remains to be seen since my GP just raised my dose from 50mg to 100mg.

pj,

The highest dose of Lamictal prescribed for bipolar is 800mg. Generally though, most doses range between 100-600mg.

Nette, if you start getting a rash of any kind (not just hair shedding), call your doctor IMMEDIATELY, it's a medical emergency! My pdoc advised to cease immediately, but mine's not yours, so listen to yours, of course!

I'm hoping it's not a precursor a rash!

After a year of Lamotrigine (generic for Lamictal:

Hair loss? yes.

Weight gain? no.

Rash? No.

Right dose? mine = 200mg, max = ?

Cognitive dulling? Duh.

I have been on lamictal for quite a while and haven't noticed hair loss. Good thing, because I would probably be looking at something different to take. I haven't noticed a dulling effect...but maybe I've been on it so long I don't really notice. And, yes, it has helped greatly to keep be stabllized.
Ambien 10mgs./No longer on Seroquel
Geodon 120 mgs.
Levothyroxin 137mcgs.
Lamictal 300mgs and ativan PRN

I was on Lamictal ( with zoloft) for a while. I hated it. I was on 100 mg in the morning and 100 mg at night. It knocked me out at night and during the day i would fall asleep randomly all the time. At work I sat on the couch in the break room and passed out for like 3 hours. I fell asleep at stoplights and trying to read at home. I would space out alot at work and not notice what was going on around me. Sometimes not even noticing people talking to me. Total other world spacyness.

At first I got more and more depressed as I was taking it. Doc cut my morning dose to 50mgs and it got a bit better... but I will probably never take it again. My new doc was going to give it to me and I flat out refused. I dunno why I had such a hard time with it, but I'm not trying to find out really.
