Does anyone know about this medication? I just started getting weened on it about a month ago and now take 100mg at night and 50mg in the morning.

I have been getting very depressed (staying uncomfortably in bed - trying to find comfort) and have been gaining weight. I called my doctor to call me back.

The only other antipsychotic I'm on is 5mg Zyprexia.

Sometimes I wish I could just be med-free. I've been so obedient with everyone around me for 15 years! I have a sensitive system ... and with any new med, it's always the side effects rather than MI symptoms.

Thanks, SpiritArtist

I've been on Lamictal for three years the only side effect I've had is blurred vision. No weight gain or anything like that. I was on Zyprexia for a while and it did cause wight gain. Lamictal has been great for me. I take 300mg in the morning along with 5mg of Abilify.

I take 400 mg of lamictal daily and have no side effects. It does help with depression. I didn't see an appreciable effect until around 200 mg. You should talk to your pdoc about the depression. He may opt to increase your dosage. I also take zyprexa, but it is for hypomania/mania, not depression.

A couple months ago I went to 400mg Lamictal and I started weaning up to 50mg in December of '07. I have physical side effects but that's it. I'm a lot more stable now. I did feel weird when I changed the dosage but that went away. I really love lamictal now.

I just upped my lamictal to 300mg and have decrease my effexor to 75mg because my psychiatrist said anti-depressants often cause mood instability. I take 2mg clonezepam as well. How much lamictal can one take? I don't think this particular "cocktail" of meds is going to do it. It's a little scary because it took a long time to find the right mix before, and the rapid cycling is driving me crazySmile

Thanks you guys! I know now that Lamictal is not the culprit. I will investigate my depressive symptoms, and have a doc's apt set up for next week. Again, thank you! Smile

Hate to go against, or rather put in another bit of information.

As I understand it, a person can take too high a dose of Lamictal which can bring of adjutation(sp). However I note that you are not taking a particually high dose.

I think I may have some cognitive effects from the lamictal, but I don't have a problem with it as long as it can make me stable. I'm thinking I am going to need to up the dose, but the pdoc might tell something else.
