Does anyone take Topamax (topiramate) as a mood stabilizer? If so, what dosage do you take and has it been successful for you?

I'm an Advocate

I take Topomax both as a mood stabilizer and for severe migraines. My body tolerates a lot without side effects: 200mg twice a day. It definitely works for the migraines at that dosage. I also think it has some effect as a mood stabilizer at that dosage, but it's hard to tell, because I take other mood stabilizers and mood stabilizing anti-depressants.
Bipolar II, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia & PTSD; Alcoholic in recovery since 3/21/07.

Aplenzin 522mg; Pristiq 200mg; Lamictal 400mg; Geodon 160mg; Ativan 1mg TID; Deplin 15mg; Xanax PRN; Metoprol 100mg.

i don't think it works well by itself but with other stabilizers it helps alot, at least for me
My experience is no substitute for sound medical advice.

Thanks, everyone. I'm going to be taking it for my migraines, and probably add Lamictal in at a later date.

Edited to add: Oh, AND I gained five lbs in two weeks taking my AD, so hopefully this will cut down on that.
