I posted this in my diary, but thought more folks would see it here. Was wondering if anyone else got the "you must eat or die" feeling right after taking saphris.

So pdoc looked it up and scientifically fine to take once daily, although the tell docs to dose twice daily. Thank goodness that eliminates the binge eating and sedation during the day.

Weight gain, I have gained 8 lbs in 3 weeks. Have noticed most of the weightbeing gained during the week of morning dose. Also have noticed if stay up after night dose instead of straight to bed, I MUST binge eat. So my theory is if I take the dose and go to bed right away I wont have weight gain. I do notice I eat larger portions in the evening, just need to make sure they are lowfat and try to shrink them. I have also been excersizing 5 x's a week and am gaining muscle mass which contributes partly to the weight gain.

I take Saphris and have found it to be an excellent drug, but I am aware some people do gain weight. You've probably already thought of this, but try cutting out sugar from your diet. It can mean several days or more of craving but then your body adjusts. There is no reason why this should work, except that Saphris seems to rattle your glucose level, and the less glucose (sugar) your body processes, the less dramatic the swings might be. I wish I could tell you a magic cure, but this is the best I've got. This could possibly have a backfire effect, so if it doesn't help, abandon it. But at least it can't hurt you. I like your determination to make it work. Oh yeah, one thing I did was play with lower doses and I finally decided that 7.5 was right for me. The tablets are a nuisance to break, but a pill splitter from the drug store comes in handy. I always get permission from my doc before I play with doses, as a matter of safety, courtesy and trust.

The sugar idea is great. When I came off seroquel for some reason I just had to have sugar everyday were I didnt eat it much before that. I still have a sweet once daily that will aslo help. thank you.

I am on 10mg, and did cut mine in order to build up to that, Im not sure 10mgs is enough since I am cycling still and it feels like it is not working as well as it was, but pdoc says you can have added benifits up to even 12 weeks so we'll just wait it out I guess.
