My pdoc wants to put me on Tegretol for a mood stabilizer. Has anyone here had any experience with this med? What should I expect?

Hey Deb I take tegretol 400 mg at night..It makes me sleepy......I have been on it since 05 and havent had any problems with it so far ,just the drowsiness.... It has worked for me just had an increase in it about 6 months ago.....I hope it works well with you! Everybody system is different so let your dr know how it is working for you!!!!!

Hi Deb, I took Tegretol for years I only had a couple of side effects. I would get very tired so I took it at night. After taking it for years it did start causing some short term memory loss. I now take Trimptol(SP). Everybody is different so just let your pdoc know if you are doing ok on it or not. with all my heart, Jeanne
