This is humbling. I was getting all flustered about paying $80 through my insurance for Geodon. It's not that I don't know other meds cost money (and sometimes a lot more!), it's just that $80 might as well be $80,000 for what I can afford! LoL

But yeah... $90 every 3 months, $80 the rest of the time. I'm on Traz as well.

I'm *lucky* I guess. Low enough income that I'm on state insurance. While I don't have to pay for my meds, there are some huge drawbacks. My meds must be approved by the gov, I must try one med before I can go on to another, I have no choice in my tdoc or pdoc, and the facilities where I have to go are creepy. But if it weren't for the insurance, I wouldn't be getting any treatment at all.

I have no insurance. The Lamictal is about 350 per month. The klonopin 50, the ambien 50 the benydryl 5 bucks.

pdoc gives me free geodon.

I used to buy my drugs on Canada drugs.com I am thinking about doing that agiain. The Lamictal is 60 to 70 percent cheaper if bought in bulk. You need a prescriyion from pdoc or they won't sell them to you.

Lamictal 150 mg twice a day
Geodone 180 mg. at bed time
Klonopin as needed or 2 mg. 3 X per day
Benadryl 2 doses of 50 mg. bed time
Ambien 2 doses 10 mg. at bed time

Lorazapam as needed or twice a day

I spend around 40 for Klonopin; 40 for Temazapam; and I get Geodon from my pdoc as well. I am humbled as well although I've been on the really expensive ones in the past. Without insurance it really hits the bank account hard.
Trudy

Meds: Xanax .5mg twice daily
Geodon 40/80 twice daily
Temazapam 30mg bedtime

Oh my gosh! I can't believe how much you guys have to spend on your meds over there! I won't complain about our medical system any more, that's for sure. I only pay $5.40 for my scripts (I have a health care card for low income earners) but even the full price is only $29 for Lexapro (month supply) and $17 for Lithium (200 tabs).

It took me a year to get to a good med combo. I don't think I'd try a drug trial, I'd lose my stability. I pay $110.00 a month for my meds with insurance. It's still too much, I can't really afford it, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Hugs

I've been playing the med game for years, and I've had several month spans of feeling relatively okay, but it never lasts. My pdoc has told me I'm med resistant.

On my current combo I pay $210 a month, with medical insurance. I'm on 5 different meds, though. It would be $260, but I have a discount card from Depakote because I can't tolerate the generic. When we're trying to figure out what works my pdoc is pretty good about giving me samples or prescribing a generic until we know if it'll work.

I've wondered about drug trials, and I'm undecided. Right now I don't think I would because I'm pretty okay, but when I'm not I'm desperate enough to try anything.

I'm still not quite right. Whether it's the meds or not, I don't know today. I was diagnosed in 2003, resisted treatment for several years. In 2004 I was put on lithium which helps a lot, but took awhile for me to be med compliant. I'm now med compliant, but am either super sensitive to a med or it does nothing at all. It's tough trying new meds. I've tried lots of meds, but a good portion were samples or generics. I don't think I've paid over $20 for a psych med ever.

Right now, I take Pristiq and it's free because of the company's patient assistance program. I take lithium and haloperidol and diazepam which are all less than $4/mo because I get larger doses and cut them or just get the max allowed at that price and don't take all of them. That's it for the purely psych meds. Under $20 - I'm not complaining. Of course, I have medical meds too, but I'd say it all averages out to under $35/mo.

Do drug trials supply the medication after the trial ends? I'd guess not, and I would hate to find something that works for it to be taken away again. And I'd never abandon the rest of my meds, mainly the lithium.
