Hello,

I am dx with "bipolar". I am not sure what type. I am currently on px effoxer 300 mg / day, Geodon 160 mg / day, Deplin and Nexium.

I have taken effexor without Geodon for awhile b4 they realized that I needed the Geodon. Deplin was px to help the effexor work better bc I was still feeling blah.

My question:

all the meds above combined give me the "zoned out" feeling is this normal???

Hi,

I take Geodon also, 40-60 throughout the day and 80-100 at night on a bad day. Yes, the Geodon promtes sleep but I need that because I have a hard time turning off my mind to sleep at night. Sounds to me like you are over medicated. I would call the Dr. and see if they can give you something different or different dosages. It is hard to get through the day with that feeling. I totally understand.

Are you feeling better than without any meds?

Hi datagrl_06,

Since combining the effexor with Geodon and deplin I feel like I did when I was a teenager. That was 25 years ago!!

I wish my quacks had found out about my dx long ago but even then I am sure I was a youngen bi-polarette

Now I want to get up and face anything! But after 4-6 hours after the px I become a zombie!

It makes sense now to put me to sleep bc that is exactly what I want to do and then I get up an hour later recharged.

After reading your response - THANK YOU - for confirming my gut feeling it was geodon - I called my PC doc and still waiting for a call back...

Your question confuses me but I hope I answered it!

BamBam

Hi,

I was on Geodon, and it made me really tired, so, I got off of it. I am on Lamictal, Abilify, and Ativan. I am not over medicated, and am able to function, and do my life.

I couldn't get up off the couch.

There are so many good meds out there. I researched all of them to find ones thet wouldn't zone me out too much. There are alot of sites with info on all the meds for bipolar.

It's really trial and error, and you have to find the right combo for you. Everyone's body is different. What works for someone else might not work for you. So, Talk to your pdoc and communicate what's going on which it sounds like you are., I hopwwe this helps.......Gypsy

God Bless,Gypsy

OP

My pdoc px me 2 dosages after our visit. One is 40mg 3 times a day and 80mg if i am up late after the third 40mg dose.

This dosage change has made a world of difference. I also noticed that if i miss a deplin dose I am not receiving the best effect.

thank you all for responding to my original post. You all made me feel that I am not going at this alone.

I no longer feel blah during the day and alot of family and friends comment me as to how well i look and am feeling (they do not know of my illness). well, my fiance, children and mother know because I feel that this it was necessary. My mom told me my dad had bp and that he was never treated. alot of things make sense about my upbringing and my own life roller coaster now that I have edumacated myself and was finally dx after being dx as depressed.... finally the whole picture is in full color... not to mention my awesome dreams in cinematic version. My favorite dream is when i was "the rock" personal assistant. i hope you all know who the rock is!

I take Geodon along with Effexor XR. I am finally getting off of the Effexor, its a good med, just a bad weight reaction to it. Orginally I was at 350mg for Effexor XR and I believe 160 for Geodon. Geodon is a wonderful drug. My doctor also had me try Carbatrol. It is wonderful as well. I take all three at the moment, trying to get off of Effexor XR though. But I really do suggest Carbatrol, I haven't had a bad reaction to it unless the dosage was too high or too low.

My primary physician tapered me off the effexor 150mg to lexapro and i had a bad side effect to the lexapro 10mg. Made me ansy, irratible, unable to sleep, brain & body didnt coordinate. It was probably the effexor fighting to stay in my body.

i am now taking cymbalta 40mg which is so far okay but i have only been on it for a week or two.

I forgot to mention that while i was being tapered off effexor I got real bad hives (stress???) and was px predisone which may had not given lexapro a fighting chance.

I am still taking geodon 160mg & deplin.

I feel like a guinea pig with all these different px.

My pdoc appt. (first appt.) will be new years eve at 7pm. now thats what i call a quack!

jk.

I lost alot of weight with effexor. I noticed i have more appetite with cymbalta but am trying to drink more water to keep my belly full of something other than food all the time.

thanks for the replies

Deplin put me through the roof and past the moon. Much too strong for even when I cut the tablet in 1/4's. I am just recovering from the stuff.

I am going to try Deplin again, but this time without any Ritalin SR and alter my dose of seroquel. I will see if that helps things out.
