It is truly incredible to be able to share good times and not so good times with others who face the same health challenges. And MDJ has support groups for every condition I have. I don't know of anywhere else that can offer that. I love that I can learn from others as well as offer my own experiences for others to learn from." (jaguarandcubs)

Can someone speak on the neruo brain damage effects from long term use of our medications? How does the clinical effect of dextroamphetamine sulfate differ from dextroamphetamine saccharate?

April,

I am thinking those meds aren't benzodiazapines's right? If they are there is a guy in my DBSA support group that has neurological damage due to prolonged use of benzo's. I will try to ask the next time I am there because he is actually quite politically and medically on top of chemical protocol's for people with mental illness.

Liz

They are different salt preparations of the molecule dextroamphetamine. They might be metabolized at slightly different rates.

Those are NOT benzodiazapines. They are the exact OPPOSITE. They are used to treat ADHD , narcolepsy, etc.

175mg Lamictal daily
......
10mg Focalin IR 3x a day
......
30mg Remeron at night

For further info, your pharmacist is your neighborhood chemist. Ask him/her about the effects of your meds on your brain for the long term.

I worked as a RN, since 1993, I do not practice at present and my opinions are exactly that - opinions. Do not take any advice that I may offer as medical treatment. I will always defer treatments, etc to your MD, Pdoc, and/or pharmacist. What I share with you are my personal experiences, and basic knowledge that I learned as a nurse.
I have Diabetes, Bipolar Disorder with psychotic features and mixed, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, and Chronic Low Back Pain with bulging discs in back and neck, Asthma, Hypothyroidism, Arthritis in lumbar and sacral areas, lumbar disc displacement, Degeneration of lumbar intervertebral discs, Lumbosacral radiculitis, DJD

No thanks. I don't trust my pharmicist to give me straight forward answers. I have a good friend in Canada that will give me the real deal on it. Thanks anyways.

If you can't trust your pharmacist maybe you should get another one-just a thought.

I would use a different pharmacist, too. I'm sorry you don't trust yours. Is there a reason you don't trust your pharmacist, or is it all US pharmacists that you don't trust? Just curious?

By the way, I would be interested in knowing what you find out, April.
