Am very thankful with all the help and understanding I get here for my gf.

Her Pdoc (see guys, I listen when you type!) gave her the Lexapro 10mg in the day, and Zyprexa 5mg (up to 20mg in a week when new prescrip is filled) at night.

Who, if any, has a history with these drugs, and might be able to fill me in a bit?

Thanks again to all.

My son takes Zyprexa at night, he was on 10mg...dropped to 5 mg after 2 mos, then to 2.5mg. Started having problems with racing thoughts and couldn't sleep so it was upped it to 5mg again about 2 mos ago. He does great on it. Has gained some weight appx 20 lbs, but, he is a big fellow. 6'1' weight 225. Said it helps a lot with the racing thoughts and the mania. He is also on an anti-depressant Prozac 40 mg am. This combination works well for him, but, it took about 2 months for him to stablize on it. He was very restless, and had severe concentration problems right after his episode in Nov when he was hospitalized. The first 3 weeks were the worst. I thought it would never get better. But, it did, gradually. Hang in there, honey. Hope your girlfriend is doing better.

I take Lexapro 20mg at night, as well as Risperdal. I have done better on the Lexapro than any other SSRI.

Zyprexa is a pretty serious drug in my opinion. There is a whole website dedicated to suing the drug company responsible for it as there can be serious longterm side effects.

My wife's personality completely changed (for the worse) from taking it and she gained alot of weight too...and, it's expensive as hell. We would only use it short term, to curb mania and help one sleep. Otherwise, be very careful.
