I also have sleep apnea and use a CPAP to breathe at night. For 15 years I've had difficulty waking up. Sometimes it is clearly depression or apathy. Other times I am clearly syuck in a confusing world that doesn't feel like either sleep or awake??? Some time my dreams are nothing but anxiety over and over again- repeating. When I do wake up I may not really wake up for a few hours accompanied by slow breathing and heart beat--I worked in construction and you would think that the physical activity would wake me up.

I do know that my dreams are worse without my breathing device and am wondering if it is something accompanying depresion and not depression alone.

Can any of you identify with one or both conditions and the problems of getting out of bed? I also fatigue easily and need sleep.

Hey Jeff, I have sleep apnea too, and use a cpap, how is your mask? is it fitting right? I don't generally remember my dreams, but have always been this way, getting awake for me takes at least two cups of coffee and about 2 hours to fully get functioning, I can jump and run if I have too, but it throws my entire day off if I do... when did you have your sleep study done? you might be needing to go back and have your machine readjusted,

Only your doctor can really say if it is depression or not, so make a appointment with them and see what is going on, perhaps they can give you a sleep aid that will help you to have a deeper sleep at night so you get better rest.

Hey, my mask is new and fitting fine. The sleep study was done years ago and I don't have insurance. How can you find out how to adjust the CPAP setting yourself?

I also tried a 7 day supply of Provigil 200mg for those with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with OSA and it helped a lot. I'll see my pdoc and visit the health clinic tomorrow and am going to request more or something similar.
