Hey all, cool again here today (40's) with chance of rain/snow today and tomorrow. Don't know whether to wear shorts or a polar suit. One day int he high 70's next day upper thirties. Don't know about global warming, seems more like global chaos.

Dreamcatcher, glad you joined us. What kind of diet are you on. Contrary to my dieticians wishes I tend to be on a "see food" diet lately.

Dreux, I am jealous of all of the wonderful things you have available in your enviroment. Gonna have to visit New Orleans one of these days.

PIP, walk toward the smell of COFFEE!

Carmen, sounds like you had the same kind of day that I did yesterday. AMUCK, AMUCK, AMUCK, AMUCK, AMUCK!!! Get some rest girl, see ya this afternoon.

Hey Red, Its beautiful here today! sun is finally shining. Hope your weather gets better. ya wonder why everyone gets sick , one minute its nice the next its miserable and cold lol....lol @ the "see food" diet. youre too much.

So, bf is looking for ANOTHER doctor. he went to see the same one that put him on Lithium. BUT when he told the doc that it only seems to help his mania not the depression or anxiety or anything else the doctor said oh well we'll just keep you on the lithium and go from there. talk about MAD. He got so frustrated, pushed the doc(which he should not have) and walked out. so now we're back to square one. why is it so hard to find a doctor. specially when someone finally decides they need help? ugh. i hate the system. seriously. sorry. had to vent.

Morning Dreux, I'll have a cup of cafe au lait, and some French bread with real butter.

Good morning to everyone else...welcome Dream Chaser...good to see you.

PIP, that's OK! VENT AWAY! Sounds like lithium started working he just needed some other add-ons to work on the other issues. Docks taking it slow and easy, only adding one med at a time is usually a good thing. That way they can see how a person is reacing to the new, not trying to guess which one is causing what reaction. My wife can't take Lithium or any of the **kotes. BAD THINGS HAPPENED!

Norma, how are you doing today?

yeah Red, sept he's already been taking the lithium a month. the doc wont give him any add-ons. dont you think after a month the doc would add on something specially if he's telling him about other areas that need help?

Hey Norma

Hey Red, Norma, Pip:

Thank you for the welcomes! I won't upset you all by telling you the way our weather has been this week.

Red, I am on a modified version of the Flat Belly Diet from Prevention Mag. I tried the regular version, but had hypoglycemic symptoms severe enough that I had to see my MD. Soooo, we added an additional 400 calories per day. The rate of loss is much slower, but hey, I'm not lying face down on the floor either.

I was on Zyprexa for 7 years...far, far too long. I am just happy to finally be able to take of the extra yardage I added during that time.

Dreamcatcher, my son is on Zyprexa and has been for 5 months he gained about 25 lbs...doctor is gradually weaning him off. Went from 10mg to 5mg to a week ago 2.5mg...he has been a little detached since the last decrease but, that just may be me being over-protective...

PIP, they usually do not want to add a whole lot to lithium until they get him up to what they call clinical levels, enough in his system checked by blood test. Has the doc been doing regular blood tests on him? It can take a while to build up to what they call clinical levels. They usually keep gradually increasing it until they hit the mark.

Dreamchaser, need to be careful with dieting. Dietician wants me to loose 20lbs in the next 3 months, then 20 more in the 3 monts following that. Problem is... if I watch my diet closely and walk daily (3 miles) I can do it. She knows because I have done it before.

Norma,

I was transitioned to Abilify from Zyprexa so I am not really familiar with how going off without taking a replacement would affect someone. I would really prefer not taking an antipsychotic at all, but you know how that goes. My Dr just does not agree with me.

I hope all goes well with your son, and he doesn't need a replacement for it.
