I've been being treated for BP for 4 years. In 2007 I really had a HUGE low point so I got a new pdoc and cracked down on him about my treatment or lack thereof.

He has done nothing but please me with the services he's provided. He listens, takes what I have to say into consideration and discusses my treatment with me instead of just giving me a script.

I just saw him on Friday and he doubled up on my Depakote, so my current meds are:

Risperdal 1mg 2xday

Neurontin 1600mg 2xday

Depakote 1500mg day

Ambien OR lunesta at bedtime as needed. (I switch up because my body gets used to them very quickly so if I'm having weeks of no sleep it's one week on lunesta, one week on ambien)

Last night 12:30 came and I was still laying there waiting for sleep to come so I took my ambien. I woke my man a couple of hours later and was freaking out because our tv was in 3-d and the things were coming out of the tv.

I've never had that reaction before. Has anyone else experienced this?

i've had similar experiences with the benzodiazapenes. can't take them anymore EVER...i, too, build up a tolerance and then have to take more and more and i end up thinking people are talking to me when they're not, seeing things when i wake up, like you said, and just plain forgetting all kinds of stuff. not good...

I think this was my first touch of crazy lady so it scared me a little. I worry alot that one day I'll cross the line from BP to paranoid schiz, like my brother...

Serena, on one of the other groups I belong too for bipolar, one of the guys there was given Ambien for sleeping and it sent him into a major manic.. you might want to talk with your doctor about this, have you ever had the same type of experience on the other one?

Lunesta caused me to sleep walk like you wouldn't believe. My body appears to be immune to sleep and sleep meds..lol. It really isn't funny. It's had me quite bothered to think that I was seeing things.

you're ok, serena. just talk to the doc and tell him about what's happening with the meds. maybe sleep meds just aren't for you. there are other meds for sleep...have you tried kava or melatonin?
