I will be getting a tattoo sometime in the next 6 months. Maybe a leaf or a lotus flower or something in script. Anybody want to share what they have, where and what it means to them?

i have a small infinity symbol (an 8 on its side) on the back of my right shoulder. aside from the obvious, i have 2 kids who are inside each circle and i'm the protection the surrounds them. a bit cheesy maybe.
death happens every tiniest fragment of time and happens again every smaller tiniest fragment of time and there can be a tiniest fragment of time that makes life worth not losing . . .

I got my first tattoo about 2 years ago (I'm 45). I wanted something in memory of my dad who passed about 22 years ago so I got one of his Air Force Medals, the distinguished flying cross which is a medal for bravery, on my shoulder surrounding by "in loving memory of Daddy". I got that for a couple reasons, one he earned that medal in Vietnam but when he came home, he couldn't be proud of his medals because of the conflicts people had with that "war" so they sat in a box for years. I figured I could be proud for him. And two, I needed some bravery and he always "had my back". I love that tattoo and proudly show it off.

I am planning another also, of my granddaughter's newborn foot print with her birthdate on my other shoulder, followed by what ever grandbabies come after that. (a grandson is due in March also) I hope to have a whole bunch of baby foot prints walking up my back someday Smile

I have six tattoos. My first I got when I was 17, it's a red dragon on my left shoulder blade. My second tattoo I got when I was 18, and it too is a dragon. This time it is done in the tribal style in black on my lower back. People call them tramp stamps, but screw 'em. The dragons are special to me because they are my spirit animal, my soul. I guess you could say like a Native American totem spirit. Particularly red dragons.

My third tattoo was a few months later. It was a slave band on my left arm. It is in remembrance of the fact that women were also once used as slaves, and also to mark me as a slave.

Two months later, I got my fourth tattoo on my right arm. It is an eagle's head done in red, white, and blue with 'U.S. Army' in script underneath. This was to mark my military service.

About 6 months later I got my fifth tattoo at the base of my neck. It was a tribal-style phoenix. The phoenix symbolizes my rebirth after my injury caused me to have to leave the military. Being reborn from the ashes of my fall.

My sixth tattoo is on my right forearm. It is a metallic ankh with the end appearing to be a dagger, tipped in blood. The ankh is the Egyptian symbol of eternal life, and the blood is to show mortality.

I still have two more tattoos that I have planned, but yet to get. I'll tell you the one, but the details aren't really ironed out on the last one.

I plan to get full back dragon wings, red and black. I'll have to find one artist to do up a mold of my back and then plan out the design then do it in a couple sittings. They will also have to have the wings swoop around the one dragon tattoo on my shoulder. But I am most excited for that one.

I had a rose named after me and I was very flattered.
But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalog:
"No good in a bed, but fine against a wall."
- Eleanor Roosevelt

Abilify 15mg once daily
Ambien CR 12.5mg @ bedtime for insomnia
Wellbutrin 450mg once daily

I have six tattoos: I have an ankh with a snake wrapped around it eating it's tail (infinity) (Egyptian meaning for spirituality and infinity) on my left arm. On my right arm I have hieroglyphics of my old cat's name, Khepera who died tragically. Below that I have "Gitana" for my mom. I got it when I was in Paris and she made me promise that I would get it. Across my chest I have the Wings of Ra, the Egyptian equivalent of a phoenix. On the back of my neck, I have a set of the Eyes of Ra. I got them after I left my ex-husband who cheated on me (eyes on the back of my head sort of thing). Below that is the Egyptian symbol for overcoming encumbering circumstances, it looks kind of like a fan. They are all in black ink, I'm not a fan of color personally.

I've been wanting to get a lotus flower for a while now. It's a beautiful thing to get on your body. The most important thing is to remember is, "in ten years, am I going to want this on my body?"

i have 3 tattoos (technically)

I have a tribal dolphin (stands for strength) on my right ankle

then I had tribal water surrounding the dolphin at a diffent time

then I have a fairy (self portriat) with flaming denim jeans and shirt with red hair and big boobs...lol on my left shoulder...she is just kind of like a guardian for me always has my back and always near my heart.

The voice inside my head doesn't like you either!

My journey to the grave will not be with an attractive well preserved body, I will skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand and wine in the other totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO WHAT A RIDE"

You have to love it.Cause you know we've all thought it.

1000MG DEPAKOTE ER
160 MG GEADON
600 MG LITHIUM

I have two. The first is a ring of infinity symbols around my ankle with chinese characters for live and life. It is to remind me that life is short and I need to pull myself out of my crap and have some fun sometimes. The second is on the inside of my wrist and done in the color of a freckle so is not very noticable. It is the chinese character for human to remind me that I am only human and my experiences are akin to everyone else's and I am not alone.

Cool topic!

Thanks so far you guys on sharing. It is awesome.

I hope to get more postings on this.

I am almost 40 and have wanted to get a tattoo since I was 17, but was gonna wait until I was 30, because I was wary of what 10 years would do to it and if I'd want one on an aging body.

I really, really want to make sure that I love it and that it TOTALLY represents who I am. Sometimes I don't even know who I am, I feel so all over the place and disconnected. That's why I still haven't decided what to have. I want something that will reflect my fragility and strength both. And, something that will help me forget some of my cynisizm.

More input, please!
