I've always had dogs. Now with BF I'm getting to know cats. My current dogs are Havanese, bought when I was a little manic, thus the spending of $2000 each. But they are worth every cent! They are my babies, and love me a lot, as I do them. I told my kids I needed a couple of dogs to replace them (empty nest).
They call me Jrock :)

I'm still alive....Pearl Jam

Bipolar 1

Trileptal 1200 mg
Klonopin .5 mg up to 4 times per day
Lamictal
Wellbutrin
Singular (for allergies)

I've always had both dogs and cats, all kinds, mostly mutts over the years. Although I love dogs, I've always had a cat as my confidant, listening to my troubles. My current cat and bff is 14yr old satie and she sits beside me everyday when I sit and chat with you!

I have a cat and 2 dogs - one of which is pictured as my profile pic. He is 10 and really beginning to show his age (he's the one in the pic). His hind end is starting to give him problems so we have to give him an aspirin every day to help with his pain. But he's a good old dog. He is 1/2 black lab and 1/2 basset hound - I know, quite the mixture and funny looking. But he is my protector and always knows when I'm hurting, sick, etc - he lays beside me and just comforts me.

My other dog is 1/2 black lab and 1/2 greyhound and hyper as hell. She is a spaz and very entertaining. She is 4 years old and a great dog. She is funny though, she definitely is not an outdoor dog and HATES getting her paws wet - weird, to say the least! She thinks she's a princess I guess - LOL.

My cat is 15 years old and just wants to be near someone all the time now and hates going out in the cold weather. In the summer we can barely keep her in the house! When I'm on the 'puter chatting with you all she is laying on my desk either next to the monitor or in front of it so I can't see - LOL. She's a good kitty.

They all keep me entertained and calm most of the time. I love them all and wouldn't give up for anything. I had them all before I knew I was BP.

I had a Cockateel bird (spell?) named Kal for 10 years in my apartment. He was an amazing bird: could whistle, made sounds, loved Doritos, and was very tame and cudly. I had a newsletter for him for some time, and had parties for him ... people definitely came for these (photo opportunities with Kal). lol I've had other birds too... currently two parakeets - love their music. Love all animals, esp horses - arabian.

I've almost always had pets of one form or another, though from the time I was small until I graduated High School, my parents would get me a dog or some other pet, and then they would tell us we were moving (we moved a lot when I was young), then the next day I would come home from school and my animals would be gone. No saying goodbye. But now, I've got one wonderful dog, and 4 amazing cats that keep me going. Drake (the dog) is one of the big things that keeps me going when I'm at my worst. I try to keep in mind what would happen to him if something happens to me. Most of the time that helps, I will admit that sometimes it didn't. But he forgives me every time. My big teddy bear with a heart of gold, even though his muzzle how has more than its fair share of gray mixed in.
