I don't know if any of you are like me but I found this man to be amazing. Not just an actor but a king of philanthropists, donating ALL of the profits from his line of organic foods to charity. He was also smart, charming and funny on and off screen.

He will be missed.

I found out about in a very poignant manner for this day and age. I live in hollywood. I have been painting for days and haven't heard much outside of AC/DC.

So tonight I'm on a date at the Mann Chinese theater on Hollywood Blvd.

We come out of the movie, and go where all of the hand and footprints are, and his had a rope around it with a vase and flower. My date then told me he passed on Friday.

True legend, humanitarian, salsa maker, and not a shabby actor.

Hollywood really lost one of the good guys.

the guy was the essence of cool and seemed immortal because he wore his face so well.

favourite newman flicks -

the verdict - plays a boozy lawyer out to win an overwhelming case

slap shot - because i'm canadian - cult movie

cool hand luke - for the egg eating scene alone

torn curtain - international intrigue directed by hitchcock

death happens every tiniest fragment of time and happens again every smaller tiniest fragment of time and there can be a tiniest fragment of time that makes life worth not losing . . .

he was a great guy. he was so handsome, too. even as an older man, those blue eyes could still really get to you. great man and actor and amazing philanthropist.

Paul Newman had a timeless look, where for all of my 35 years, I've had a pretty solitary image of him, in my head. It's like he never really changed. He just evolved.

you're right, flaco. that's the perfect way to say it. he was the epitomy of growing old gracefully.

And the Hustler...cuz I'm a pool player.

But yeah, an amazing man. Kept out of the Hollywood lifestyle. Married for a long time to Joanne. Had tragedy in his life, used that tragedy to fund a foundation (overdose of his son). And yeah, a very handsome man, even at 82. Racecar driver, just a cool dude. We'll miss you Paul.

They call me Jrock :)
