MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

I think have bipolar symptoms but my psych doc has me on antidepressants and anxiety meds and just calls it depression and anxiety with crying spells and anger. Am I missing something or is the fact that I'm not energetic and manic the reason for this diagnoses. I also have trouble concentrating when people talk to me, I tend to get distacted if the person talking has an interesting characteristic on their face or even if they have an accent, I'll start listening to the accent and not whattheir saying until they ask "You know what I mean" that's when I snap out of it and say "Uh yeah" I hate when that happens. I know none of us are doctors but I could really use some advice or learn the difference's between illnesses that I may have been misdiagnosed with.

well this is all pretty new to me, and if your doc isn't listening to you then maybe you should see another one and get a second opinion. but as far as the distractions when talking to people that happens to me all the time. but i get fixated on flaws. chipped teeth, cold sores, hairy moles. HA! the things we do.

JackieBlue...there are so many reasons for what you are describing besides bipolar disorder. If you think your doctor has misdiagnosed you then speak up. Tell the doctor. Write down specific things to share with him/her. Keep a mood chart. And be persistent about getting help. Sometimes we have to push in order to get the right diagnosis and treatment. Hope it gets better for you, hon.

jackie, as i understand it a bipolar diagnosis is having periods of depression and mild or severe states of mania. that periods can be seperated by months.

look around for a definition. anger may be a manifestation of mania. do you remeber having a manic episode - racing thoughts, high energy that sort of thin.
