MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

Hello to everyone! My name is Amity and I found and joined this support group just a few days ago. Sorry I have not had a chance to introduce myself untill now. I have been diagnosed as bipolar because after many years of therepy and treatments no doctor can put any other name on my problems.

I had my first nervous breakdown when I was 14 and it went downhill from there. I have managed to maintain a somewhat normal life yet I struggle with many issues. I am married to a somewhat (when we are speaking) supportive man who has stood by me. I am a mom to 3 beautiful children and sadly my son shares some of my problems. At this point he has been diagnosed with ADHD, PDD (Pervasive developemental disorder which is an autism spectrum disorder) and Bipolar. Unsure

I have recently decided to file for SSI since I have been unable to handle the stresses outside of the house for the past 3 years.

I tend to be a friendly fun person untill I am scared someone is getting too close then I push everyone away and close up on myself. That tends to make relationships with others impossible.

I have tried all anti-depressents out there with little or no help. I have taken Zyprexa and Symbyax, Xanax, valium, the list goes on and on. I am currently taking depakote though it seems to be doing little. I suppose I will wait and see. Dizzy

Anyway I am not too sure how much I will be able to help others but it will be so nice to read other posts and know that there are people out there sharing my problems, that for once I might not feel so alone.

WElcome Amity, I am glad you decided to post...we have lots of different threads, there is one for crafts and HOBBIES, a Joke thread, in the lounge section, and ANYONE AWAKE thread where we hang out and visit...and you can post a question in discussion thread...

My son takes Zyprexa and Prozac and it seems to work for him, he is 25. I am sure there will be some other people who will introduce themselves and visit with you...this is a busy place, although it is a little quiet now....

You ARE NOT ALONE, this is a place where you can say what you need to say and ask for help, or give advice...I bet in these years you have developed some good coping mechanisms....

Comments made by me are from my own experience and they are my opinion alone, whose intent is only to share that opinion and not to give medical advice nor discourage from seeking medical help. Medicine is best left to the professionals that is what they do.

Hi Amity,

Welcome. I am glad you finally jumped in.Don't worry just you being here, and sharing your story helps others.

I have 4 kids. I have bipolar, and my oldest son has just been officially diagnosed after everyone thought he had ADHD all this time.

I have filed for disability, too. I am waiting for my hearing.

Anyway feel free to share, vent, or whatever. We are here for you.

God Bless,Gypsy

Hi Amity welcome to the group, lots of great people here.. hopefully your new med will start to kick in and do what you need it to do... shutting off from people is kinda normal for us, as we feel that we might disappoint them and so we push away before that has the chance to happen, therapy can help with this..
