My name is Crystal. I'm 21 years old, and I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 20. I currently take Lithium, Abilify, and Lamictal for it. Lately, I've been having increased suicidal thoughts. I'm wondering if anyone here can give me advice.

hi, crystal-are you feeling like you want to hurt yourself right now? if so, you need to call 911 RIGHT NOW! Are you alone? if you have a friend or family member you can stay with, try calling that person. we don't like to be alone when we feel this way. i'm 40 years old and bipolar. i take a lot of meds, too, but they don't always stop those thoughts. have you told your doctor about the thoughts? they may need to adjust your meds. no matter what, the most important thing is that you are safe.

there are so many people here who truly care. we save each other every day by reminding one another the same thing i'll tell you:

YOU ARE NEVER, EVER ALONE!

Please keep talking. i'm a good listener and really want to help.

I told my doctor, and she increased my lithium. I'm still having suicidal thoughts, though. My husband watches me to make sure I don't follow through with the thoughts. What should I do? Should I go to the psych ward?

if you're asking if you should go to the psych ward and hubby has to watch you so you don't hurt yourself, it is time to go to the hospital, sweetie. they will be able to give you meds there to stop these horrible thoughts. you're worth being helped, sweetie. i know it's scary, but call 911 or get husband to drive you RIGHT NOW!

we love and care for you and we'll be here to talk when you get back or any other time.
