Iam new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 27 year old female and I was diagnosed with bipolar 4 years ago. I am a single mother and I work parttime during the week. I . Currently not takin any meds right now only because I hate the way the meds make me feel. Anxiety is a daily part of my life. It consumes me and causes all sorts of problems as a result. I even find it increasingly hard to work my full shift some days. I found this forum and read some of the testimonies and decided to join. It was also out of boredom because my life is a rutine and I hav no social life, no romantic life and it is hard to even live life feeling like this. So I am hoping to learn lots of things from this group.

Welcome to the group. this is a great site and you will learn alot about bipolar on it. You will also not be alone any longer. Being a single mother can be rough. How come you aren't taking any meds? Is it lack of insurance? The meds don't have to make you feel awful. You can talk to your pdoc and get adjustments made. If he/she doesn't listen than you can switch pdocs. I know it's hard with the sideaffects but you don't have to have anxiety if you don't want to. Please call your pdoc and get on meds, do it for your kids, they need you. They'll feed off your anxiety and be anxious to. We are here for you whenever you need us. PM me anytime you need to talk or vent.

Welcome to the group. I am glad you will be joining us. I understand about not wanting to take meds. I fought it for a while, too. I didn't like the way they made me feel. But the problem was I never took any long enough to get past the initial side effects. Granted, there were some that I just couldn't take period. But through trial and error I am now on medications that do not have side effects that are bothersome and I feel so much better, under control for the first time in years. I really encourage you to reconsider your stance on that.

Please feel free to post other places, join right in. Again, welcome.
