Smile Welcome to the group...I might not be dual-diagnosed, but I can relate in being a bipolar 1. I have had alot of ups and downs. The mania is under control right now, but the depression blues hit at any time and strange times as well. I will be glad to share some of my experiences with you; i.e. meds, sharing experiences like I said and/or just to "talk" about good and bad days. Try to keep a journal so you can share your feelings with your therapist and/or P-Doc. They need to know how the meds are working or not working, and how you are feeling maybe at a particular time during the day. Also; keep a list of phone numbers handy just in case you need support or help in time of a crisis. (P-Doc, therapist, closest relative you can trust, and maybe a neighbour) Welcome from me...Cappy!!!
You can live with the bipolar disorder, not let bipolar disorder ruin you...

Amen to that Jaysha. That's the thing with having bipolar disorder - the swing will happen. While I don't have manic episodes, I do have hypomanic episodes and feel so alive. You hang in hon. Many blessings, Odyssey

Hi Jaysha! Welcome. I'm new here, too.

I'm not dual diagnosed, but I do have mania. I crawled out of the deep dark depression several years ago and only have moderated depression these days. The mania I experienced recently wrecked havoc on my family finances and has left me feeling bereft of normal feelings. Now, I'm on the mend with a new medication and hope it does what I need.

The difference for me this time has been that I have a new community here and my family is now educated about the bi-polar condition. I have found some of the most wonderful support from my close friends and family that I never thought I'd ever receive.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

I hope many new blessings to you as you continue your journey in life as a dual diagnosed bi-polar and contribute/participate in this community. I hope I can be here for you, too!

God Bless!
