im so stressed out with my ex, im doing everything that i can to help him but sometimes he blames me and i get upset cuz all ive been doing is try to help him the best that i can today is the first time i went to therapy with him & i don't mind doing that at all for someone i love, the only thing is that sometimes he doesn't take fault for his actions and blames evrybodyelse for his failures in life, im really trying to do the best that i can but i cant take the blame for him loosing everything when he gets mad when he is good he is the ideal man , i just dont understand it sometimes and upsets me so much cuz im really trying here then he realizes what he said then he becomes this wonderful person im dealing with 2 people and i dont know how to handle it anymore the doctors dnt want to give him meds yet til they figure out how bad he is so, sometimes i just want to walk away but then i cant cuz i see how hard he is trying to get his life together what should i do im so lost, he just started therapy so i want to be able to help him without loosing my own mind ...

Sondi, welcome to the group, it's hard to understand the illness, even harder to offer the support when your support is met with blame and fault, you can't make them get help, they have to want it, his doctors are kinda right in holding off offering medications, just don't let them wait too long, getting therapy for yourself is a good thing to do also, it's going to help you learn to help yourself and him, have you checked out our bipolar in the family group? you can find it under other Support Groups on the left side of this page, just click on that, scroll down to where you see mental illness, click on that and it will list all the groups that we have here dealing with mental illness, there are others in that group that are experiencing what you are going through, of course you are welcome to post here as well, a lot of people belong to both..

Your welcome hon, you will find lots of people here to offer you experience and hope, your ex is lucky that you are in his life and want to help him. and I hope for his sake and yours that he gets the treatment that he needs, medications are not a cure all, but they help level you out and keep you stable.
