Hi there. I just came across this site earlier today and it looked like there was a lot of good people/information on it.

I'm a 31yr old male that was just diagnoised as Bi-polar around 6 months ago. (This was after years and years of being told I just suffered from depression)

I guess I'm still taking this all in and "relearning" about myself. I don't know quite how to explain it, but after I was diagnoised and started on 200mg of Lamotrigine, I kind of had to learn to trust myself and my emotions all over again. Needless to say, its been quite a learning process.

Anyways, hello to everyone!

Hello, I'm glad you cam across this site. It's excellent and so much support with many groups you can join. There are tons of good people and lots of information. A lot of us were diagnosed with just depression for years until we finally got diagnosed correctly. It's a shame someone couldn't see it before when we were younger. Taking it in can be difficult, but in time you will feel alright with it. It's a treatable illness with lots of options out there. It can take awhile to find the right medication mix though, but you will get there. Learning to trust yourself takes time. You will get there. You haven't changed, you are still your own person, the one that was there before, but you now have a reason for what you have felt. It sure is a learning process. You will like it here. Lots of support from people that understand. Make yourself comfortable. Welcome to the group!

Welcome! I myself was just diagnosed a few short months ago, and just joined yesterday.. Actually it amazes me how 4 months have passed already.

As everyone else has said, this is a very supportive group. I have spent a lot of time reading through the various discussions and can really see there is true care and understanding here.

I'm happy you could make the same step I just made, and found this site.

You are correct, and you aren't alone, it is a learning process. And as was said before, you are still you, but with a reason now. I have this same learning curve as well.

Lamictal (also known as lamotrigine) is a great medication. Some have troubles, others don't.

If you ever have questions about it, feel free to pm me.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here!

Glad Lamictal is working for you - it's becoming more popular. Other sites I've found are helpful, too - but this is one of the best imho. You might try DBSA's site and/or HealthyPlace.com.
Diagosed with bipolar in 1985, I'm learning to deal with it better since finding my "family" at Alcoholics Anonymous, and as of 1/3/2013, I will have one year of sobriety and more clarity than I've ever experienced in my lifetime.

hello and welcome to the group. This is a very interesting group. I like it here. Just knowing that I'm not alone really helps. As I read through the post in here, I feel like they're looking through my eyes.
