Dear members,

Thank you for your very active participation in the support group.

Out of consideration for the original author of a thread I would like to suggest the following:

(1) If you wish to post something that isn't related to the original post, please click on the following link and start a new topic.

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/bipolar-support-forums

(2) If you are replying to a particular person in an ongoing topic, please address your post to that person. (i.e. Dear .........., or To.........).

(3) If you just want to have a general conversation with someone in the thread, or if you wish to vent, or if you just want to rap with someone, please go to "Anybody Awake", or start a new "no topic" thread, or use the private message system.

These are not rules, but they are suggestions which will untangle some threads, and which will help newcomers to find and focus on the topics.

If you have any problem with these suggestions, please say something, okay?

Thanks for your help and for any other suggestions you may have.

With kindest regards,

Jim

Okay..., one more tip.

Days ago someone asked "What is group therapy?"

I would like to direct you all to a thread (once again) called "Anybody Awake", which starts new everyday and which can be found here:

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/bipolar-support-forums/ general-support

Group therapy gives us a chance to practice social skills--in some cases, practice by focusing as a group on one problem or set of problems in a group forum.

The object is not necessarily to "solve a problem or set of problems", but to practice "tapping into" the combined strength, perspective, and experience of the group. It gives us a great tool to see the flaws in our own attitudes, ideas, and reactions and to practice the concept of being "a part of" rather than "apart from" the reality of life.

Since many of us, including me, have often isolated ouselves from the mainstream or reality of life, it becomes apparent that such group interplay, focused or not, gives us a good launch pad for coming out of that isolation... AND STAYING OUT!

Despite the sometimes crazy stuff on "Anybody Awake", it is nonetheless an ongoing (sometimes radical) form of group therapy.

Carry on...!

Jim

Hi JR1...I too am new at this. It is truly a blessing to find people like me to talk to. I need some help in manuvering through this program. I still am trying to figure out how to go into the different forums of "bipolar" topics. I posted my introduction which got a few blessed replies and I registered and did my profile, etc. I've read the replies and some people talk about cutting and pasting from diaries, and doing other things. Am I as lame as I feel? I just want to be able to access all the wonderful information and potential friends without being stuck in one forum forever...you seem like you really know what you are doing, so do many, many others. Does this make any sense to you? Thanks for being you.

Dear Kimgarden,

Everyplace you see light blue text, you can click on the text, and it will link you to another page.

The blue links in my posts (scroll up to see them) will take you to main pages where you can make choices: what thread you want to see; where to post a new topic; where to find something that was posted days or weeks before.

I'm still learning how things work myself, and there are still dozens of features I've never used!

Try things! Exlore boldly! Trial and error is a great teacher. If you run into a wall, c'mon back. Someone will have an answer for you, for sure!

Thanks!

Jim

Hi Jim,

another newbie here, and I have to say your articles and posts and your website are great. It feels so awesome to finally have a connection to the outside world. My life is within the walls of my house, I venture out only once or twice a week to the store so my husband can feel like he is getting me out of house. My contact with other people is pretty much limited to my boys and hubby I feel I am losing my people skills, it is great to have a place to go that is safe and connects me to other real people.Just reading these posts makes me realize I'm not "crazy" and that other people really do understand what it is like to be me. I feel like I am reading my journal when I read some of the posts. My world just expanded when I discovered this group
