I've been feeling suicidal off and on for the past couple weeks. I went to my doctor yesterday-just wanting a medication adjustment. He asked how I was feeling and initially I told him OK just a little off but the more he questioned me I completely lost it and started crying. He wanted to put me in the hospital but I refused. I agreed to go to a psychiatrist today but found out I can't get in until Wednesday. I feel so much worse than before I saw my doc and I'm not sure what to do now. I keep fascillating between feeling suicidal and thinking everything is OK. I know there's nothing anyone can do. Just wanted to unload. Thanks

Hi.

Within the past year, my husband has felt this way twice. Both times, I took him directly to the hospital. They did help him. They were able to watch out for him and adjust his meds., and keep him safe until the meds. had the chance to start working. Don't give up on yourself. I know you feel down now, but you can feel better again. Believe in yourself and get the help you need.

I like people until they give me reason not to, she said. Some days they just drop like flies, though, she added. - Brian Andreas

If you feel you need to, go to the hospital, if you can't wait till Wednesday. Try to focus on the fact you won't always feel down like you do today - you will have lots more good and fun days ahead. Take care of yourself. Try to sit near a light or open a window, get some fresh air if it isn't too cold, make a hot cup of cocoa, watch a movie (comedy) anything to try to lift your mood. Life is precius and you are important! Reach out for moral support from a friend you trust. Hold on, you will feel better soon. God Bless You!

I would recommend having someone come and stay with you for a while, maybe for the whole weekend, or could you go and stay with family? till your doctors appointment? you don't really need to be alone during this time, a hospital would be a good place to be, they can and will help you there. Does your doctor have a after hours number that you can call?

Thanks for the replies. I have been on my Lamictal but off my Lexapro and went to my doc to get it refilled. He's family doc and I think he decided it was time a psychiatrist get involved. I do live with somebody and my doctor called him to let him know the situation.

He had absolutely no idea I was feeling this way because I completely conceal all this bad stuff around other people. I succeed most of the time until it gets bad like this. I am consumed by guilt because of the things I've done in the past-cheating numerous, numerous times, yelling, screaming, breaking up then apologizing, beating the animals secretly, throwing things across the room, etc. I do almost all of this stuff in secret because I don't want anyone to see how out of control I feel- especially my partner. Then I convince myself that I'm not REALLY bipolar because if I was I'd be a raving lunatic all the time and not be able to control when I act nuts.

Thanks- sorry for rambling.
