Hi, my name is Michelle and i have had bipolar disorder from some 20 odd years and borderline personality disorder. I am 43 with 2 children who don't live with me and spend alot of my time on a social networking site called imvu making clothes and things for the avi's. lolTongueRecently though i have encountered severe daily dry mouth. I say daily because i don't have trouble sleeping because of it nor to i wake up with my tongue stuck to the top of my mouth. I have dry mouth all day but some times during the day are worse than others. My doctor continually tells me its wellbutrin. The thing is i have taken wellbutrin for like the last 3 years with no problems so why all the sudden now do i get dry mouth. Has anyone else experienced this and if so did it make a difference weather you where on the generic or the brand name?

Hello and welcome to the group, Michelle. Glad you are joining us. I am not familiar with imvu. I have been taking Wellbutrin for about a year now and have noticed that my mouth is a littler drier than it used to be. It is odd that it would just begin suddenly like that.

Feel free to post elsewhere. This is a very supportive place and I hope you will make friends here.

Hi Cheelara and welcome, glad you've found this place. You've been living with bp for a long time, i have too even longer than you for 28 yrs. I had a number of those yrs being very highfunctioning and working full-time and only taking an anti-dep and Klonopin small dose. Eventually a mood stabilizer was needed 14 yrs later, when my mom passed away it is Lithium and i'm still taking it, works fairly well for me.

I get dry mouth and i also suffer from excessive thirst which i know both of these are caused Lithium, but the anti-dep also could cause dry mouth, not sure though. You may need to keep mints or gum or water always on hand, i too hate that pastey feeling.

I love this site, the people here are so awesome and i've learned so much about this illness hearing first-hand from those who live with it. I come online daily and pm with friends i've met and get and give a lot of support, hope you like it here too.

Cheelara, so nice to meet you. Man, you have had bipolar for many years. I used to take Wellbutring, but didn't notice the dry mouth. I've never heard of it before. I would drink a lot of water if I were you. it's strange that it would pop up after so many years. You will find many friends here from people that understand this illness. You will learn a lot about this illness too. Everyone experiences the disorder differently. I look forward to getting to know you.

Thank you all very much. Since my last post i have had dental surgery. I am getting two implants put in so i had to have some bone grafting on my lower right jaw. Right after the surgery up until the stitches came out i had no dry mouth at all. Then as soon as the stitches where out, bam back again. Now is that not just weird? The only thing that i can think of is that i was on antibiotics for that week. I really don't think its my meds. I think it is something else. But anyway just thought i would mention that. I think i will enjoy meeting people here and learning as much as i can. I am sure there is always something new always around the corner. Smile
