MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

Hello, I'm new here. My name is Tiffany. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with bipolar about a year ago. I have educated myself pretty well on the topic but thought it would be nice to join a group of others who share the same difficulties.

I had my first serious manic attack a little over a year ago, it was right after that that I was officially diagnosed with bipolar. I have strugged with depression off/on since I was 15/16 years old.

Right now, I am currently in a mixed state and am working with my doctor to adjust my medicines to level my mood. I take Wellbutrin Xl (300mg) Seroquel (300mg total each day), Topomax (400mg total each day), and Klodopin (4mg total each day). Besides Bipolar, I deal with anxiety/panic attacks and post traumatic stress syndrome. I attend therapy on a weekly basis and have found that journaling on a daily basis helps me tremendously.

I have been married for almost 7 years and I have an almost 9 year old son, a 7 year old daughter and an almost 5 year old son. I also have a 14 year old stepson.

Right now, in my mixed phase, I find that everything irritates me, which I am having a hard time coping with. My children irritate me, my husband irritates me, work irritates me... everything I love just irritates me. Its affecting every aspect of my life. I am hoping someone here can relate to that.

Hi Tiffany, welcome to the group! When I am hypo-manic, I get very angry and irritable, have racing thoughts, and am overly emotional. I can totally understand the feeling you are going through. Every single big or small thing is irritating. I conquered this with Abilify. Now it still happens every once in awhile, but not as bad.

I was diagnosed with bipolar type 2 about a year and half ago. It was a relief to be able to put a name to my actions and feelings. I'm sorry that you are experiencing a mixed state and I hope it passes soon. It's good that you are working with your psychiatrist to get this under control. Stay strong. Hugs

I too can relate to things irritating me. I have the hardest time with my kids. I can be in the floor playing with them and the next second want them to get away, far away from me. Sometimes I'm not sure this is the BP...Smile Any one with kids probably has felt this way. Try not to beat yourself up over it, keep your journal and maybe you can find a pattern that you can work to interupt or stop.

Welcome to the group, Tiffany. I am glad you are joining us. I am sorry you are currently in a mixed state and I hope it ends soon for you. I completely understand what you are feeling as far as the irritability. When I am hypomanic or manic I am very irritable. Like Joy, I take Abilify and it has helped immensely. I also take Trileptal to help manage my anger and it helps as well.

I hope you will feel at home here and feel free to post elsewhere.

Hi Tiffany. I'm new here too. Wink I'm very familiar with the irritable mixed state. For me the cause of the irritation is generally sensory overload (which in my case is severely worsened/complicated by concurrent psychosis). It may help you to take frequent breaks in a dim quiet place, if you have one available. Some place with virtually nothing to stimulate you. And of course, make sure you're getting enough sleep, so you don't cycle all the way up to mania. good luck.

My family knows that when I say I need to be alone for awhile, that it's in everyones best interest, I go into my bedroom close the drapes, and try to empty my mind, and relax. If it's really bad I take a klonopin. On occasion my daughter has interrupted me. and has learned its not a good idea. I too think it's sensory overload sometimes. I always say "my nerves are shot"

Hi Tiffany I get really irritable when I am anxious or stress. My anxieties get to a level that I can't handle. Right now I am not taking any meds and have been handling my stress with herbal meds they work when I take them.
