You are very welcome! Just keep talking....to us, to your doctor. I have heard that abuse memories often come to people when their child reaches the age the parent was when the abuse happened. You have some HUGE things going on right now, physical and emotional. Your doc can direct you - trust him/her. This may sound stupid, but when I finally reached the point that I needed to talk to a professional, I had to tell myself, "Go ahead and tell the scary stuff to the doc....I can always come back next week and say, 'Oh, I was really stressed and I don't think things are so bad'...." But you know what??? It always was GOOD to talk.....and I never took anything back. Just had to trick that I'm-doing-great-everythings-great armor that I wear......I hope this helps....just my crazy way of handling it....Take care
Let me introduce myself. I'm Linda....aka Zoe.

Hi Katie! I'm realy glad that you decided to come and share your story... As you can see, there are MANY people here who can relate to what you're going through and offer you support/friendship/sounding board.

Repressed memory is difficult to deal with. The shame you feel isn't uncommon at all, however, it's unwarranted. The fact that your family members refuse to acknowledge it doesn't help. (I know.)

The motto in my house was always "What happens in this house stays in this house" and "Let sleeping dogs lie." I disagree with that motto.

I will reiterate what the girls have already said; you need a professional to pinpoint your specific problem. Once you've done that, you'll be on your way to being able to treat it! And wouldn't it be WONDERFUL to lessen the pain & anxiety you're feeling?

You DON'T have to feel this way for the rest of your life... It's up to you to take the steps to make it stop. Instead of telling yourself you're a failure, and letting your fear hold you back, how about telling yourself "I WILL ACHIEVE WELLNESS!"? You CAN, you know...

Not sure if Glory mentioned this to you, but she is Group Leader in the PTSD Group.. I think it may be your best bet to take a look. (just a thought)

Again, thanks for sharing your story (believe me, I "get it" - I know ALL ABOUT the pain of being betrayed by family..) Keep posting ! I'm in your corner...
