I've been thinking a lot lately about making more money versus having a job that I can do, being bipolar.

My husband and I have been talking lately about how tired we are of never having enough money. It's constant stress always worrying about paying the bills.

I also found a rule where I work that shows how to leave the store and come back. It's store policy to re- hire anyone who leaves under good conditions.

So we have been talking about me going to a temp to hire place here that hires office workers. I do have some "good skills" in offices and such. But I've quit a lot of jobs due to stress. I think I can judge whether it's do-able or not. I already have a job, so hopefully I could turn down anything that seems too stressful.

Jim thinks that I should go to school, which I've wanted to. But that would mean working hard and going to school, which I think is too much right now.

Sorry if I'm going on and on, but as I'm writing this, I keep wondering how I can decide what's best for me. I'm in a decent place right now, personally and working. I also vowed to keep this job and succeed at it.

The very, very worst part of being bipolar for me is knowing I can't always trust my own thoughts. They change so fast. The only people I can think of that I trust to understand this, is you guys. So what do you think? Should I apply to a few office type jobs and see what comes up? Or should I (ohmigosh) actually just stay at a job for awhile and see what happens?

My husband Jim said he's really worried about winter time and how we are going to pay fuel bills, when we are so tight money wise this summer, usually our good time. Made sense to me. He works as hard as he can, in a factory he hates. It seems I'm the one that should go looking. Just wondering.

do you make more money if you go to the temp agency? i know how scary it can be to trust your thoughts, but in reading your post, it seems you have your answer, it's just hard to see cuz you're too close to it. so--more money at the temp agency if you bolt on the current job?

Otter I think that temping is a great job! I was shocked at how much temps can make. Warehorse works as a temp. And the beauty of it is - if you don't like you can bow out and they'll send you somewhere else. I think it's a great idea.

Otter it seems to me like you get kind of bored at a job. Maybe the temp jobs would be more interesting. the "honeymoon" period of learning a new job might appeal to you. And it is only temporary...no big committment.

Dear Ottalover. I love Ottas as well. Have you seem them on their backs on the water, with a shell fish on their tummies and hitting the shell fish with a rock so that it will open and they can get the shell fish? They really look so cute. They must have tough tummies.

Now back to your problem re money.

Maybe you and your husband to could through just how your spend your money, are there cheaper places to buy food for instance, amaligate any credit card debts. Migh fine a lender who offer less interest rates than the current lender. Don't run two cars unless it is really neceasary.

Now I am no financial expert, but there are many ways to save money. A financial expert will help you manage the money better.

Chartity groups here have financial advicers who give advise to people re their finances.

It may be worth while to look at the possibly of any stress going from one temp job to another. Also there is the possibly that you could go some weeks without employment.

Remember problems with finances should be dealth with, with both people in the relationship. Now I am not there in your home, but get a bit of a hint that your husband might be giving your more than your fair share of the responsibily of solving this money problem.

Do NOT tell him off re this. Even if this is the situation.

Hope it works out and the stress is releaved.

I would just up my visits to my therapist and keep my job and try to stick it out. I have tried the temp job thing. There are no benefits, but you can draw some unemployment. I suggest keeping the fulltime job consulting with the docs more often. Also your husband will let you know if your thoughts are going off the deep end. I have been told to watch for irritability and mania. I don't know if this helps. It's what I am doing.

Have you considered staying at your current job and taking courses at a community college? You could take one class at a time, so that it's less stressful than managing a full course load. This would allow you to test the waters, and see if the stress will be too much for you. If it ends up being too stressful, you could look into temping, and making the transition into office work. If I were in your position, I would try to pursue school before office work, but that's just me.

You can get special accomodations at your local community college or university. I got longer tests times and to take the test in a room by myself and extra absences if I needed them..Also on the job I had a note put on file saying I could may need to take extra absences. You can get help from your docs in both areas, getting a four year degree slowly is not out of the question. It took me 4.5 years, but I did it. You probably could even get one class paid for by your current employer.

Why must we second guess ourselves all of the time? Just about everyone on this site does it. I do it. It's why I joined. I need to see other people with bp think the same way I do. But do we ever overcome it to normalcy with school, work, and independence without episodes? Going on to Grad School or Law School without being manic? Sometimes ya just feel like a guinea pig.
