I am new to this site and wanted to introduce myself. I have been going through many new medications - with no success and am becoming very despondent. I am hoping to get information and feedback on this website as to whether or not others have experienced what I am going through.
If laughter is the best medicine, why doesn't it come in pill form?

Hi, Wanna, welcome, it's tough finding the right meds, several people on here have been through just about every combo they have out there, thankfully new meds are developed all the time..

Ask questions, give feedback and just read the posts, you'll find a lot of great information here.

Hi WLA...you have found the right place. What your going thru is not uncommon but let your pdoc know about the meds effects and side effects.

I have been bi-polar for 25 years and have been thru so many meds, alot of them worked for awhile then stopped for one reason or another. I live a fairly normal life husband, 2 kids (18 & 14), 2 dogs and for now my meds seem to be working. I'm not able to work due to my bi-polar but i'm learning to live with a lot less and being stable.

Hi Wanna, rkc is so right you have found a pretty cool place to hang out. I have been on several combinations of meds. Right at the moment the ones I am on seem to be working for me. That doesn't mean in the future they will have to change again. I believe because we have a chemical imbalance in our brain that we change all the time so the meds have to change all the time to keep up with us. Does that make any sense? Well I am really glad you are here. Jeanne

hi and welcome. i can tell you from experience that it's very had on you when you are being switched from med to med but it does take time and a lot of trail and error.

anyway glad you are here and ask any questions you like. most of us have either been thru it or going thru it now.

The voice inside my head doesn't like you either!

My journey to the grave will not be with an attractive well preserved body, I will skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand and wine in the other totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO WHAT A RIDE"

You have to love it.Cause you know we've all thought it.

Hey, glad you joined...we do laugh a lot here. As well as share our lives with each other...make yourself at home.

Hiya Wanna! Glad you are here. I can speak only for myself when I say, new meds, been there. More new meds, been there too. Sometimes it takes awhile to figure out what works best for you. BP is a chemical imbalance in the brain. If you were trying to find the correct chemical balance for a cure for cancer, it would take ALOT of attempts to eventually get it right. Well, unfortuanatly, Bipolar is really far down on the list of cure searches. So, in the meantime, we take meds, and more meds, to try to find the right balance for our imbalance.

THank you all for the encouragement. It is SO frustrating when I go in to the docs office time and time again and she tells me well dose down on this and dose up on this. I go home, with a whole new set of side effects (or the same new ones) hoping this new concoction will be "the one".... I have heard MANY people say that Lamictal is the miracle drug. I have been on 300 mg since February. Not so miracly for me. I was thinking about asking her about Trileptal - anyone have any info on this one? Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks!
