Ms. Nikki, get your tail into the hospital, I know that a job search can be very frustrating, applying for job after job, I had to do that a very short time after being out of the hospital, it was hard to deal with, I'm grateful that your boyfriend is there for you, but he isn't the one that is going to be able to drag you to safety, you are the only one that can do that, no matter how much he might try, if you have your mind set on cutting you will find a way to do it.

Getting better is going to require getting the help that you need, and the hospital or doctors office is the only place you are going to find that.

I saw my doctor (again).

He said he doesn't think hospitalization is the best option and instead I'm being called every few hours. He's also changed up my medication and I'm hoping it takes a better effect.

I do feel better having spoken to someone, which is a good start even if it is small.

Nikki - your first post kept me reading. You articulated your symptoms so well! As I read I just kept nodding my head...that's me, that's me...that's almost me. I understand much of what you're going through. I am rapid cycling, unemployed and a 'sometimes' cutter. I drink one to two glasses of wine several days each week and I need to watch that. I have two kids, though - 14 yr old girl and 11 yr old boy - and that complicates my illness dramatically. My husband sounds a lot like your boyfriend. I was hospitalized last month for a week, so I'm still recovering STILL! and lost my job in April.

Anyway - wanted to let you know that I understand. I know that's not much - but I do get where you're coming from. And things will get better. I just keep watching my mood chart and waiting for my next up-swing.

Best of luck to you!

Nikki, I am glad you got ahold of your doctor, and that he is staying in contact with you, do not be afraid to tell him if you think that a hospital might be the wisest idea for you right now, no matter what he thinks, you live in your body and you know what is going on, and if it means going to the hospital then do so.

I have a dear friend who also cuts herself at times. She states she feels that she deserves the pain (she chose to have an abortion because the ultrasound showed her baby with severe abnormalities, including only part of a brain, which she was felt totally unable to cope with). Anyway, she is doing well now and we all have learned to say what we truly feel and discuss our pain together. Keep up the postings, it helps.

I understand and feeling alone is the hardest time. I have bipolar and borderline...struggling with both..but on meds Zyprexa celexa and seroquel for panick attacks.. i feel good and better.

psychiatrists must match with you. find one that is sympathetic and knows the issue well.. and ask your boyfriend to get support too.. with people are also living with bipolar people.

relationships are hard.. i lost my partner last november because of my bipolar.. but it was because we never went to counselling and he didnt know much about the disorder, my triggers and reactions...

breathe.. beleive in yourself and your ability to heal (with help) and beleive in your goodness..

In line with the universe
