We took a trip to Colorado when I was about two years old. My sister and I were in the bathroom of the motel and my stepdad rushed towards us screaming. I was scared and he was so big. I looked over at the toilet and it was taller than me. Quite a bit taller.

I can remember several things vaguely. I think my first real memory is the day that my mother brought my younger, disabled cousin to live with us. Matt (my cousin) was 3, I was almost 5, he was very cranky and my older sister (who was 15) started singing the song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" Its weird, I remember somethings from when I was younger than that, but its mostly vague memories of my sister essentially rescuing me from my parents fights. I really like the fact that such an important and happy memory is the first one that I REALLY remember in detail =]

I remember when my twin brother and I were about 18 to 24 months, both of us standing up in one of our cribs together. LOL... we were standing up, holding onto a side rail, and shaking & shaking it!! I think we were trying to rattle our mom and get her to come in and see us. I have treasured memories of my twin brother, esp when we were little.

We were always, always together, like Frick & Frack, until the second grade when it was decided we should not share the same teacher/classroom. This made me very sad; I missed him.Sad

I have no concrete memories of my childhood... my memories seem to start around 12 years old. Had some trauma that I think blocked out the rest of my life.

My first memories are of abuse. I try to let my past stay in the past. I want to live in the present, the here and now, stay focused on the positive and try to live a healthful lifestyle, though I'm a work in progress. I am 48 now and I spent about from age 10 to 37 focused on my past. I worked through my past in therapy, but, frankly, a day came when I realized focusing on all the bad shit only makes the present less pleasant. But you can't let go of the past until you are ready. Everyone has to take their time to get to the point where the past is no longer significant. If I focused on my past, I'd just feel like a piece of shit. Which is how I felt most of my life. I don't feel that way any longer, but I got my bipolar under control for the most part. Now I just feel like shit for short periods of time, but I know it's all due to bipolar and in due time it will pass, but it sucks while I'm having mild episodes from time to time now.

my best to you all,

btdt
