MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

So, i have been feeling fine until today. those purple things are still on my leg, but i have a doctors appointment tomorrow to get them checked, so this is good.

On my way to school, all of the SUDDEN, my vision went to sh*t. I mean, double vision. when i looked down at something, say my radio, i couldn't see straight after i looked up, this of course, was frightening on the highway. i get to school, my vision got a little better. i start to feel hot. i leave class early, go home take my temp, it was only 99.3. i go down stairs strip down and look at myself, i got this red stuff on my back. red dots, my dad said it looked like ring worm, my mom said it looked like nothing. I kept burping at school and felt like i might get nausious.

I donno if i'm getting the flu, or if im getting SJS. i have always been a little paranoid about it since the stuff on my leg showed up, but i never had blisters or flu symptoms. now ive got the flu symptoms, but ive NEVER had this vision problem before. i know blurred vision is a side effect of lamictal, but i was just nervous that all these things came at the same time.

What is blurred vision like, for those who haave had it? What does this sound like to you? i'm trying to decide if i should take my lamictal tonight. i took it this morning and i guess 30 minutes after i took it i began to have these vision problems and the fever. help! someone make me stop being paranoid if thats to case!

I can't tell you what to do, but have you considered that maybe your lamictal levels are too high? Through a mistake at the pharmacy I was taking too much lamictal and started having weird things happen. My eyes started shaking really fast. It looked like I was having a seizure. It went away when I found out about the mistake and went back to normal dose.

My advice is purely personal. I am not a Doctor and there is NO substitute for getting proper medical diagnosis and advice.

I say call your doctor, any sign of side effects need to be discussed with them. Sounds scary though. I am sorry you are feeling bad.

Hope you feel better!

When I switched from brand name to generic lamictal at a dose of 400 mg/day, I got the rash, and it was accompanied by extreme nausea. I couldn't stand up or lie down, or anything. Every little movement encouraged vomiting.

I went to the regular GP, and it wasn't the deadly rash. All these symptoms went away when I stopped taking the lamictal. I can't take either the brand name or the regular now without getting these symptoms.

Anyway, I quit taking it without my pdoc's knowledge....if I were you I'd wait until you hear what the GP says and inform your pdoc. My pdoc said that if I hadn't quit the lamictal at that dose I might still be able to have switched back to the brand name without problems.

Who knows. Hope your thing turns out to be the flu. Losing lamictal sucks.

I don't want to stop taking it i have been feeling good. I am on the generic version, but i have been the entire time, about 6 months now i suppose. I just remembered that the stuff on my back itched during class. my fever is up to 99.6. I did up my lamictal from 200 to 400 over the past.. 2 months maybe. probably not that long, and the side effects just came all at one this morning? I donno, i would hate to stop taking it, i would have to start all over. Unless those things on my back get worst, i'm going to take it tonight. I'm a little worried that my GP isn't going to know anything about SJS, or lamictal in general. But, my pdoc did say to go to him, and to possibly get blood work done. Super!

Skin rash can be a side effect of Lamictal I think if I remember correctly, but any drug to which you have an allergic reaction will give you a rash or other symptoms like wheezing, itching, swelling. So anytime you get a rash you need to get it checked out.

are you taking it at the same time as your birth control? if so, that could also be a problem, according to my pharmacist - you might consider taking one or the other at the opposite end of the day.

Merry! I went through the same thing! All of a sudden it was hard to read my computer screen, like it had a film over my eyes. I JUST now read the side of my generic Lamical...guess what it said? MAY CAUSE BLURRED VISION! Whew...at least it's not our eyes! It doesn't happen often but when it does, it's freaky. So talk to your doc about it and maybe they will have to switch meds if it is really becoming a problem. Pyxie (HUGS!)
