I just realized a couple of days ago that the medication that I loved for keeping me balanced has taken away my passion in life. Nothing interests me like it did before. I can't concentrate long enough to even watch a TV show. Is this common?

Dear Beebeebaker, not having interest in things and poor concentration is a symptom. Discuss this with your doctor. I can be a sign of depression. I have seen this in myself and my son, we both have bipolar disease. He couldn't even watch a whole football game...which we love...just would get up and walk out in the first quarter. He is on Prozac and Zyprexa. It took several months for the meds to take full effect.

Well, I have been on Lithium and Paxil for 2 months now and was feeling great. (not too great). I don't think that I am depressed - just medicated. Maybe I am just not seeing it. I will def discuss with my Dr. - thanks!

Beebeebaker...it took about 4 months for my son to really feel the effects of the anti-depressant. He has been on it now for 6 mos and is back to normal. Interests have returned and his sense of humor is much better.
