Hi

Do you have bipolar? Are you a spouse of a bipolar?

I know some people drink these, but, I can't they make me manic.

I suppose they could be addictive. I don't like the taste. I mixed them with alcahol, when, I was drinking, so, when, I got sober, I couldn't stand the taste or smell.

God Bless,Gypsy

Hi Gypsy,

My ex-BP SO drank 3-4 monster drinks per day. He just drank these and smoked - barely ate any real food. He couldn't go without drinking these - he also drank about 6 cups of coffee per day. Maybe it was in response to the huge doses of antidepressants he was taking. I'll never know. It was one of my clues that his behavior had a clinical pathology. So, I vote "addiction".

Pic looks like a museum for energy drinks. Kev, you must like them a lot..or the pretty colors of the packaging. I think anything can be addictive. Everything in moderation. Read the labels. If the content is high in caffine, sugar, sugar syrup, etc then too much is not healthy.

My answer to your question is yes to both. They are delicious and addicting. Just like any other food or substance they can be addicting if consumed as a replacement for a healthy diet. Everyone has to make decisions for themselves about addictive behaviors. I personally don't like them...

Welcome Kev, Addiction, appears to me it's OBSESSION:the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc. These drinks are terrible, full of sugar, caffiene, and loads of other chemicals. My Pdoc is totally against caffiene, and Md feels the same. I do drink coffee(part of my genetic makeup) but have to be careful, to much can trigger mania.

All I know about energy drinks comes from one day last Oct. 6th when I was outside on a hot day and drank 4 with alcohol in them, they tasted good at the time but between the drinks and sweating in the sun and a new med for blood pressure had been added my lithium level went thru the roof and I was in the hospital the next day. Now I don't know what caused what but I leave those energy drinks alone today.

I say addiction!

Hey Kev, I think of course they can be both. I love them, especially the yellow monster and the sobe adren. rush, they tend to lift the fog of all the meds that I take but it usually only takes one to lift the fog for the whole day. but now when we play paintball holy crap sometimes i can't keep up with how many we go thru.....lol
The voice inside my head doesn't like you either!

My journey to the grave will not be with an attractive well preserved body, I will skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand and wine in the other totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO WHAT A RIDE"

My bipolar stbx husband drank (and probably still drinks) huge amounts of coffee all day and night, which I believe definitely contributed to his mania.

Very astute! Gold star.

I think I'll get back to my green tea now.

Cheers!
